AEW Rampage Results (5/27) – The final stop on the road to AEW Double Or Nothing 2022 kicks off with the usual “This is Rampage, baby!” theme song and cold open video package.
From there, we shoot live inside the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada where Excalibur and the rest of the AEW Rampage commentary team welcome us to the show.
Bryan Danielson vs. Matt Sydal
The crowd is already on fire and making a ton of noise as the bell sounds to get this opening contest off-and-running. The aforementioned commentary trio welcomes William Regal, who joins them on special guest commentary for this one-on-one bout.
We see Danielson with a side head squeeze, not a head lock, as Regal points out, to control Sydal coming out of the gate. He takes Sydal down and backs off with his hands in the air in arrogant / confident fashion.
Sydal answers back with a nice mare that sends “The American Dragon” to the mat. He looks confident himself now, as we hear Regal and Taz praising the form and execution of the aforementioned spot by the high-flying veteran.
After some more back-and-forth action, we eventually see Danielson settle into the offensive driver’s seat. He locks him up in a modified surfboard stretch on the mat. He blasts him with repeated elbow strikes as Taz puts over his violent streak on the broadcast.
William Regal makes it clear on commentary that he really doesn’t like Chris Jericho and hopes to see someone punch “his stupid face over-and-over again” in the Anarchy match scheduled for Sunday’s Double Or Nothing PPV. On that note, we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.
When we return from the break, Excalibur informs us that during the commercials, Danielson connected with a flying knee on Sydal after coming off the top-rope. On his way back up, he was visibly favoring his knee.
As we settle back in from the break, we see Sydal firing away at Danielson with punches as he continues making his offensive comeback on his veteran opposition.
Sydal goes to the well one too many times, as he heads to the top-rope, presumably for his Meteora finisher. Instead, Danielson stops him and cuts him off, before joining him on the top-rope.
Danielson brings Sydal down the hard way and then locks him in a modified single-leg Boston Crab. He flattens Sydal down and yanks back hard on the hold. He transitions that into a knee bar / heel hook. Sydal then quickly scurries to the ring ropes, forcing the referee to break the hold.
Upon getting up, Danielson proceeds to blast Sydal with repeated “Yes!” kicks as the fans chant along with each shot that lands. Moments later, Sydal fights back and ends up connecting with an absolutely insane high sunset flip power bomb off the top-rope. This leads directly into a pin attempt, but Danielson kicks out.
The two duke it out and brawl back-and-forth until Danielson connects with his super psycho knee. He controls Sydal’s body and elbows the hell out of him before locking in a match-ending choke for the win. Absolutely terrific opening match between these two.

The Young Bucks vs. Jon Cruz & Taylor Rust
We head to another quick break and when we return, a vignette airs showing the latest from the mysterious and unique Danhausen.
From there, we hear the familiar sounds of the theme song of The Young Bucks. Out comes what looks to be Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy, but the commentators quickly point out that it is, in fact, Nick and Matt Jackson.
The duo, dressed up like The Hardy Brothers, do the trademark Hardyz style entrance and are then joined by Gangrel of old WWE Attitude Era fame.
They head to the ring where their opponents, Jon Cruz and Taylor Rust, are shown waiting for them. The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this one.
Immediately we see The Young Bucks doing all of the normal Hardy Brothers trademark spots, including the leap off the back into the corner splash, the Swanton Bomb off the top-rope, and even the Twist of Fate.
Cruz and Rust end up getting blasted with stereo super kicks from Nick and Matt Jackson at the same time. Shortly thereafter we see Cruz get in a couple of kicks of his own, but it isn’t long before he is nearly be-headed with another huge super kick from Jackson. This leads to the 1-2-3 for the pin fall victory.

After The Match: The Young Bucks Attack Gangrel, The Hardy Brothers Make Save
Once the match wraps up, we see The Young Bucks joined by Gangrel in the ring again for another segment mocking The Hardy Brothers.
While Gangrel thinks he is playing along with them, he quickly finds himself part of the stunt on the other end of things, as the Jackson’s double team him from behind.
They hold Gangrel in position for a BTE Trigger, however the theme song for The Hardy Brothers plays and out comes the real Matt and Jeff Hardy — looking all-business.
The duo beats down Brandon Cutler, who was running around filming everything on the Cutler Cam, while The Young Bucks flee the scene. Gangrel gets in his old finisher on Cutler and then The Hardy Brothers follow-up with theirs to end the segment.
Darby Allin Issues Challenge & Warning To Kyle O’Reilly
We shoot to a word from Darby Allin backstage. The popular face-painted AEW star issues a challenge to Kyle O’Reilly for a match at this Sunday’s AEW Double Or Nothing pay-per-view.
Allin makes it clear that he wants O’Reilly because of what happened to Sting. He says if O’Reilly avoids the challenge, he vows he will make The Elite’s life a living hell at the PPV this Sunday night.
Dante Martin vs. Max Caster
We shoot back to the ring and see Dante Martin standing and waiting for his opponent in the next match of the evening.
Out comes Max Caster rapping and freestyling his way out as always. He does some funny rhymes and then Anthony Bowens and The Gunn Club finish up the ring-walk promo segment.
It actually officially ends moments later as Martin flies from the ring and takes out all of them with a leaping high-cross body off the top-rope.
Billy Gunn scoops Martin up and rams him into the ring apron. Martin and Max Caster continue the actual one-on-one match in the ring, while AEW women’s referee Aubrey Edwards ends up ejecting The Gunn Club and Anthony Bowens from the ringside area.
We see Martin faring well early on in the ring, but Caster quickly shifts the momentum in his favor after dumping the high-flyer head first into the mat.
On that note, we see Caster settle comfortably into the offensive driver’s seat as Excalibur talks us into a mid-match commercial break.
We return from the break to some more back-and-forth action and then Martin ends up taking over and hitting his finisher for the pin fall victory. Good match.

Dan Lambert Delivers New TNT Championship To Scorpio Sky
After a vignette airs to promote Adam Cole’s quest to win the first-ever Owen Hart Foundation Tournament with his finals showdown against Samoa Joe at this Sunday’s AEW Double Or Nothing PPV, we shoot back inside the arena where Dan Lambert and Ethan Page are standing in the ring with TNT Champion Scorpio Sky.
A video package airs showing highlights of Sammy Guevara, Tay Conti and Frankie Kazarian smashing and destroying the previous TNT title.
Back live, we hear Dan Lambert talking about how we live in crazy times. He eventually presents Sky with the brand new, redesigned TNT Championship title belt. It is new colors as well.
As Sky tries to talk, he is interrupted by Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti on the big screen. We watch as the happy couple, joined by Frankie Kazarian, march through the halls of the American Top Team gym.
They proceed to steal things and bash in display cases that contain various world championships from MMA promotions. They steal the UFC Championship, as well as Jorge Masvidal’s BMF Championship.
Finally, Guevara and co. issue a challenge for a mixed AEW Trios match at Double Or Nothing. The bout is confirmed to be Scorpio Sky, Ethan Page and Paige Van Zant taking on Sammy Guevara, Frankie Kazarian and Tay Conti.
The Men of the Year go on to accept the challenge, but with an added stipulation — if they win, Guevara and Kazarian can no longer challenge for the TNT Championship ever again. We head to another commercial break after this.
— Back from the commercial break, Mark Henry asks Ruby Soho what winning the match tonight would mean to her. Soho says she has lost confidence in herself, but winning this would help her gain her confidence back. Statlander responds by asking what she has to show from being in AEW from the beginning. She says nothing will stop her from getting this opportunity.

Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Semifinals
Ruby Soho vs. Kris Statlander
The bell rings and the two lock up. They exchange submissions, but Statlander gets the upper hand and sweeps the leg. Statlander delivers a shoulder block to Soho, then tosses her to the mat. Statlander delivers another shoulder block and goes for the pin, but Soho kicks out at one.
The two lock up again and Soho delivers an arm drag from the middle rope. Statlander delivers a forearm, then Soho delivers a kick. Statlander take Soho down with a kick to the knee. Statlander hits a delayed suplex. She goes for the pin, but Soho kicks out. Statlander locks in a neck submission, but Soho escapes. Soho goes off the ropes, but Statlander catches her. She hits her with a bodyslam, followed by a standing crossbody. She goes for the pin, but Soho kicks out again.
Soho gets a roll up, but Statlander kicks out. Statlander hits Soho with another bodyslam and gets Soho up, but Soho counters with a crossbody. The two exchange forearms with one another, before Statlander gets the upper hand and delivers a power slam. She goes for another pin, but Soho kicks out.
Statlander gets Soho on her shoulders as she stands on the top rope, but Soho counters into a huricanrana. Statlander hits a powerbomb and pins Soho, but Soho kicks out. Statlander gets Soho up on her shoulders, but Soho counters into the No Future. Statlander falls out of the ring and Soho tries to get her back inside. Soho leaps up to the apron and hits the hurricanrana. Soho sends Statlander back into the ring and hits a shoulder drive into the mat off the rope rope. Soho locks in a shoulder submission, but Statlander grabs the bottom rope to break it up.
Statlander gets Soho up on her shoulders and sends her face first into the top term buckle. Statlander hits the German suplex and the Big Bang and goes for the pin but Soho kicks out. Soho trips Statlander and rolls her up for the win.
Winner: Ruby Soho
With the win, Ruby Soho moves on to the other spot in the finals of the tourney, where she meets Dr. Britt Baker to determine the winner of the first-ever Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.
Once the match wraps up, we see Dr. Britt Baker emerge as her theme hits. She comes out with a big smile on her face, but is cut off by Soho in the ring.
As Soho catches her breath, she tells Baker not to speak because everyone is sick of listening to her. The fans boo and Soho tells them she gets it, and their favorite Statlander lost.
She says Statlander is her friend and she likes her but this Sunday, she is going to hurt Baker. She says once again that Baker has a receipt coming at DoN. She vows to cash-in said-receipt on Sunday night.
She drops the mic on that note and the AEW DoN “go-home” edition of Rampage on TNT abruptly goes off the air.
