Update On Rumors Of Bret Hart Joining AEW – There have been teases of Bret Hart joining All Elite Wrestling to be the manager of FTR following Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler recently firing Tully Blanchard.
Wheeler and Harwood are huge fans of Hart and they’ve become good friends with him. A few years ago, Wheeler punched a fan who attacked Bret at the WWE Hall Of Fame.
Hart is slated to serve as their manager at a Big Time Wrestling event in June for a tag team match against Brock Anderson and Brian Pillman Jr. with Arn Anderson in their corner. However, fans shouldn’t expect to see him serve this role on AEW programming.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “the reason this is on an indie show and not AEW is that those in AEW are of the belief that Hart quietly signed a lucrative WWE deal that would ban him from appearing on AEW shows.”
Hart is allowed to do indie shows so this is a loophole around the deal. The belief is this is also the reason he’s not part of the Owen Hart tournament presentation.
Hart has previously said he was never asked about being at the Owen Hart tournament presentation. “The Hitman” did make an AEW appearance by revealing the World Heavyweight Title at the 2019 Double Or Nothing event.
