New Wave Of NXT Releases Is Underway (Update 3)

New Wave Of NXT Releases Is Underway

New Wave Of NXT Releases – Malcolm Bivens, Dakota Kai, Persia Pirotta and Harland have been released from their NXT contracts.

There was actually talk that these releases were expected a couple of weeks ago but, for whatever reason, those plans were delayed. There was also a concern in the company from people on the main roster because for the last couple of years, April 15th has been the day when the company would let people go.

Bivens and Kai were released from their contracts today. There is no word on what led to Kai’s departure, but Bivens reportedly wanted to leave.

WWE pushed Bivens to re-sign last year, and he did, which led to a short extension. He was asked about re-signing an extension this past February, but he reportedly made it clear he did not want to re-sign.

Steph De Lander, better known to fans as NXT’s Persia Pirotta, was also released today. Pirotta signed with WWE in March 2021, and made her on-air debut as the friend of Indi Hartwell who flew from Australia for the InDex wedding. Pirotta began competing in October 2021, and was later paired with Johnny Gargano’s The Way stable.

Pirotta re-aligned with Hartwell and began teaming for a feud against Toxic Attraction in February, but the two later split and engaged in a brief feud with each other. Her last match was a loss to Indi Hartwell on the March 15, 2022 episode of NXT 2.0.

Harland, also known as Parker Boudreaux, is the latest name to be added to the list.

Boudreaux signed with WWE in February 2021 and later debuted as Harland on the October 5 episode of WWE NXT 2.0. He then gradually aligned with Joe Gacy. He had been featured as Gacy’s enforcer for several months, but he has been missing from TV for the past few weeks.

Before his time with WWE, Boudreaux played college football for the University of Central Florida. Once he started chasing greatness in wrestling, he was viewed as a blue-chip prospect; WWE RAW star Riddle even called him “the next big thing”.

Update 2 – 5pm:

Fightful Select reports that Raelyn Divine, Draco Anthony, Vish Kanya, Mila Malani and Blair Baldwin have also been released.

Update 3 – 5.12pm:

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that Dexter Lumis has been released.

Lumis signed with WWE in February 2019. He debuted in July as a participant in the Breakout Tournament and later returned to TV on the April 1, 2020, episode of NXT. He had a lengthy feud with Cameron Grimes, and he was involved in a long-running storyline with Index that culminated in their marriage on the September 14, 2021, episode. In recent weeks, he has been feuding with Duke Hudson as InDex competed with Hudson and Persia Pirotta over which duo was the better couple. Lumis and Hudson briefly formed a team before Dexter’s release. In Lumis’ last match, he and Hudson unsuccessfully challenged Pretty Deadly for the NXT Tag Team Championship on the April 19 episode of NXT 2.0.
