Fans became concerned about William Regal’s health after he delivered an emotional promo on AEW Dynamite this week regarding his past substance abuse issues and not having much time left in this world. He also stated that he expects to be wheeled around in a wheelchair by the time he’s 65-years-old.
Dave Meltzer wrote in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter: “Apparently Regal’s health issues at this stage are far more serious than have ever come out.” He added Regal will detail them in an interview next week on Talk is Jericho.
Regal noticed the concern among fans on social media and the report so he went to Twitter to issue a statement to clear up any confusion about how he’s doing:
In addition to his past substance abuse, Regal underwent open-heart surgery in 2018. The former WWE NXT General Manager made his AEW debut this past Sunday at the Revolution event.
