Ricochet Wins Intercontinental Title – Ricochet defeated Sami Zayn tonight’s WWE SmackDown episode opening match to become the new Intercontinental Champion.
Ricochet won the title after Johnny Knoxville walked out to ringside to cause a distraction as revenge on Zayn after he was attacked last week.
As we noted a few days ago, Ricochet is set for a big push and he’s currently slotted as the number 2 babyface on SmackDown. Since the Royal Rumble, Ricochet has been booked to win all of his matches at live events.
This is Ricochet’s first run with the Intercontinental Title. Zayn won the title back on the February 11 SmackDown by defeating Shinsuke Nakamura. He held the title for 13 recognized days.
