Pat McAfee’s WrestleMania Opponent Revealed
Austin Theory walked out to the ring during tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown. Theory said that he goes whenever Mr. McMahon goes and he says McMahon set McAfee up.
Theory then announced himself as McAfee’s opponent at WrestleMania and then he slapped McAfee before walking away.
Pat gets on the announce table while Theory takes a selfie. McAfee looks on from the announce table as Michael Cole tries to calm him down. McAfee puts his headset back on and keeps asking who Theory is. McAfee is furious and at one point blames Cole for what just happened. Cole says he had no idea what was going to happen. Cole asks if what Theory did hurt, and McAfee says it did not.
This is a change from what was listed internally last week. At one point, McMahon vs. McAfee was planned and the idea was that it would be a “smoke and mirrors” match with interference. It was believed that Vince’s appearance on The Pat McAfee Show earlier this week was done to set up the McMahon vs. McAfee feud, but that didn’t happen. Vince simply offered McAfee a match at WrestleMania and said they would find him a worthy opponent. McAfee accepted the offer, and now his opponent was confirmed to be Theory on SmackDown tonight.
There’s no word yet on what WWE has planned for the McAfee vs. Theory feud, or if they plan to put Vince in the ring at WrestleMania, but we will keep you updated.
