Charlotte Flair Addresses Criticism About Her Reign As Champion

Charlotte Flair recently reflected on her current reign as the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion as she’s been a champion in the company more than 10 times across three different brands.

Flair addressed criticism about her current championship reign while speaking with Graham GSM Matthews of Bleacher Report. In recent months, she feuded with Naomi and had a short program with Toni Storm before Toni departed from the company.

“For me, I think I would’ve liked to have more title defenses on pay-per-views, but under certain circumstances… It was cool being champion going into the Royal Rumble because that’s never happened before [with the women].”

Flair stated that she had been waiting to wrestle Naomi for five years and they were able to do it. She said it was special for her and it was fun to revisit the bitter best friend storyline with Becky Lynch at Survivor Series.

Flair thinks following her match with Ronda Rousey in the main event of night one of WrestleMania 38 next Saturday that anything that has happened in the past will be forgotten about.

“I think whatever I’ve done throughout this entire run will be forgotten about after WrestleMania,” she said. “I hate to say that because I loved working with Naomi and it was a pleasure being able to face Toni. I wish her the best. She has so much talent and is a star. I think, for me, everything will be forgotten once WrestleMania happens.”

Flair vs. Rousey is a rematch from the 2018 Survivor Series event. They previously headlined WrestleMania 35 in 2019 alongside Lynch in a triple threat match.
