Bryan Alvarez is reporting that WWE has been discussing Kevin Owens vs Stone Cold Steve Austin for WrestleMania 38 in Dallas. This would explain why Owens has been sarcastically putting over Dallas as his favorite city all of a sudden. On tonight’s Raw, Owens said that he despises Texas.
Fightful Select also noted that WWE has made a significant overture towards Austin for a match at WrestleMania 38. There’s no word on if Austin is interested in wrestling his first match in almost 20 years, but WWE is hoping he will come out of retirement for The Grandest Stage of Them All in his home state.
WWE has tried for years to get Austin to return to the ring for at least one more match but he’s turned down the offers. It appears that he is at least considering getting back into the ring or has secretly agreed.
Austin has not wrestled since his loss to The Rock at WrestleMania 19 in 2003, but he has made several appearances since then. He was forced to retire from in-ring competition due to a serious neck injury and multiple knee injuries.
