Corey Graves Confirms He's Medically Cleared - Addresses Possible In-Ring Return

Corey Graves has found a lot of success outside of the ring as he is the current WWE Monday Night Raw color commentator and hosts the WWE After The Bell podcast. His latest project is a reality series, “Corey & Carmella” with his fiancee, Carmella, that will premiere on WWE’s YouTube channel this Monday.

Graves and Carmella spoke with TMZ today to promote the show. At the end of the interview, he was asked about potentially stepping back in the ring to wrestle again. This is where he confirmed that he’s been medically cleared to wrestle again, but doesn’t plan on making an in-ring return right now.

“It crossed my mind. I went and spent some time with doctors middle of last year. I kinda got the itch. This is one of the first times I’m saying this publicly. I have been medically cleared to compete. It’s not an immediate goal of mine, it was just something I needed to know for my own sanity. My journey in the ring got cut short and it’s kinda eaten at me for years, always wondering what if, what if there’s a chance, what if there’s an opportunity. I went and did the necessary steps and it turns out I’m more okay than I thought I was, but never say never. It’s not an immediate goal, but you can never take the wrestler out of my heart so I would be remiss if I didn’t say I didn’t have any interest in something..”

Last November, Graves got physical for the first time in years when he briefly won the 24/7 Championship only to later drop it to Bryon Saxton. He later tweeted, “I kinda wanna wrestle again.”

Graves was forced to retire in 2014 due to a history of concussions. He made the transition to commentary in NXT before moving up to the main roster. You can watch the entire interview by clicking on the player below (quotes can be found at the 3:40 mark):
