AEW Dynamite Results (2/09) Atlantic City, NJ

AEW Dynamite Results (2/09) Atlantic City – We are live from the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, as Excalibur and JR welcome us to the show. Wardlow makes his way down to the ring carrying cardboard blow-ups of MJF putting Punk to sleep, and a second of just MJF. He poses them in the corner and has the announcer call out FTR

In the Ring: the Pinnacle

FTR make their way down to the ring, champagne in hand, and clink glasses before drinking their champagne. The Atlantic City crowd shows the Pinnacle nothing but boos. Sean Spears is out next, joining Wardlow and FTR in the ring. They hand a blue folder to the announcer, and he reads the most ridiculous introduction ever and out comes “the king of All Elite Wrestling…the Past, the Preset, and the Future of Professional Wrestling…the Salt of the Earth…the Man who beat PG-Punk twice in that dumpster fire known as Chicago…” along with a very, very long list of other titles. Out comes MJF accompanied by two women in skimpy white dresses. MJF is carried out to the ring on a throne.

MJF makes out with both women before joining the Pinnacle in a circle, hopping together as ticker-tape falls from the ceiling. MJF demands the music be cut and the fans boo as he gets on the mic.

“So let me just make something perfectly clear–guys, I’m holding the mic, settle down! Settle down,” he implores with the crowd. “I think I made it crystal clear last week that I’m the best wrestler on the planet. Not Kenny Omega, not Bryan Danielson, not Adam Cole, not Hangman–no, no–you’re looking at the best in the world. Actually, scratch that. I just beat CM Punk twice in Chicago” which makes him better than the best in the world. He repeatedly brings up beating Punk twice in Chicago, then reminisces that he beat someone he grew up watching wrestling on the TV. He whispered two ‘heart-warming words’ to Punk, which were “you suck!” MJF thanks Shawn Spears for helping him get warmed up prior to the match, allowing MJF to beat Punk. Twice. In Chicago. The crowd chants “Wardlow” and we see Wardlow making unhappy faces. Spears throws us up to the trons, which show a new MJF tee and they do a cheap plug.

MJF claims to be better than the Viper in Portland, the Brett in Canada, and that punk in Chicago. MJF declares it’s his time to be the AEW champion. CM Punk comes out, hands in pockets, and the crowd loudly welcomes the Original Punkster. Punk states that MJF winning in Chicago is as suspect as MJF’s spray tan. Punk states he’s learned his lesson, and today he’s got some friends since they like to beat up on guys. Sting & Darby Allin make their way out, each holding bats. Punk states either he gets a rematch or he and his friends beat it out of the Pinnacle. MJF refuses to give a rematch and Punk corrects him, stating it was Wardlow who beat him in Chicago. Both groups of men continue to exchange words, with the FTR begging for a rematch and again asserting themselves as the best tag team in the world. Punk suggests a Trios match but MJF refuses to “wrestle in this cesspool, Atlantic City,” to big boos. MJF decides to roll the dice and offers up a challenge. If Punk with any partner of his choosing can beat FTR, then Punk can get a shot any time, any place, or any where. MJF excludes “tweedle dumb and tweedle dipshit over there,” indicating Sting & Allin, and wishes Punk good luck in finding a partner.

Three-Man Conference: Sting, Darby Allin and Andrade El Idolo

Schiavone is back stage with the three men. Sting tells Andrade not to call Darby a kid, and if he has an issue with Darby he should speak to him mano a mano. Allin plans on becoming the next TNT Champion. Andrade states that Darby will work with him. He tells Allin that he, Andrade, is the next TNT Champion.

The Blade vs Wardlow

The Blade is out first, followed by Wardlow & Spears. The Blade attacks Wardlow from behind and the ref calls for the bell. The Blade beats Wardlow briefly in the corner. The crowd with a loud “Wardlow” chant. Wardlow uses a lariat to drop the Blade, then sends him flying with an overhead belly to belly suplex release. Wardlow hits another, tossing the Blade into the middle of the ring. Wardlow hits a third belly to belly. Throughout the commercial break, Wardlow controls the pace of the match. Wardlow takes his time beating the Blade to the outside of the ring, then around it. Wardlow cautions Spears to back up and the Blade attempts to capitalize on the distraction but fails to. Wardlow is limping, selling the chopblock early on in the match a little too much. Both men exchange fists and kicks in the ring as the Blade desperately battles back futilely. Wardlow uses a big chop to drop the Blade to one knee. Wardlow uses a very, very long stalling suplex to rush the blood to the Blade’s head before dropping him on it.
We return from the break and the Blade starts to fight back. The Blade is quickly shut down as Wardlow rams big shoulders repeatedly into him in the corner. Wardlow slips up and charges into a knee strike from the Blade. The Blade hits another knee strike but Wardlow counters a diving attack into a Powerbomb! The crowd chants for more and Wardlow is happy to comply, hitting the Blade with the “second of the Powerbomb Symphony” (Excalibur). Spears and the crowd call for another, so Wardlow hits a third Powerbomb. Wardlow immediately its a fourth Powerbomb bomb before mercifully placing a foot on the Blade’s chest and flexing as he picks up the pin fall.
Your Winner, Wardlow

In the Ring: Chris Jericho’s Mandatory Inner Circle Meeting

Chris Jericho, Jack Hager and Sammy Guevara make their way out. The crowd is hot for Jericho, jovially singing the entirety of the song even after the music stopped. The crowd pops for Jericho again. Jericho mentions the whole Inner Circle wasn’t present, and starts to reference Santana & Ortiz. The duo then make their way out. Jericho chastises them for making a separate entrance and for not tagging Jericho in. Both sides exchange words as Jericho seemingly has lost their support due to being selfish. Santana & Ortiz take issue with the fact that they don’t have the tag team titles. Jericho name-drops Eddie Guerrero, then tells the duo that they’ve let Eddie Kingston get into their head. Jericho tells them that since he brought them here in 2019, they’ve main evented premium live events and made a lot of money. Jericho points out that Santana & Ortiz had a chance a year ago for the titles but they lost to the Young Bucks, and that’s not Jericho’s problem. Jericho states that he brought them into the Inner Circle, and he can kick them out. He states that maybe he invited the wrong members of LAX. Santana grabs Jericho by the throat and Sammy tries to diffuse the situation, exclaiming they’re a family. Jericho snaps at Sammy, telling him to shut up.

The crowd starts up a chant for Sammy. Jericho attempts to apologize and Sammy tells him to save it. Sammy exclaims that he doesn’t know what’s going on with them. He then tells Jericho that one of his goals is to be the greatest champion professional wrestling’s ever seen and all of the bickering in the Inner Circle isn’t going to help him. Sammy takes off his cut (leather vest) and throws it down, stating he’s quit the IC before and he’s quitting it again and they’ll “figure this shit out.” Santana & Ortiz get back on the mic, asking Jericho what’s next. They tell Jericho that his facts are twisted and Jericho’s wrong about Eddie Kingston, who’s a brother-in-arms to them. They state that all this bickering won’t settle anything, and want to give him a lesson about where they come from. He states that where they come from, they don’t settle issues with their mouths–but they use their fists. They then challenge Santana & Ortiz vs Jericho & Hager next week. Jericho accepts and states that “maybe after Jake and I smack your faces around, you’ll have an attitude adjustment.” He tells them attendance is mandatory next week.

The ref reaches nine but Mox slides in, only for Wheeler to kneel on Mox’s neck. FTR use frequent tags to continue to stomp and choke Mox in their corner. The crowd rips off a “holy shit” chant, deservedly so. Archer doesn’t wait for the ref’s TKO count and instead looks for a powerbomb. Page escapes and wraps barbed wire around his right arm and hits two forearm strikes to Archer. Archer blocks a third and looks for a ripcord but Page counters with a back suplex. The ref bends over to pick up barbed wire off the floor and Page vaults off the ref’s back then crashes into Archer and both men crash through the further of the two tables! The ref begins his TKO count. Page makes it up at 8 but Archer fails to make it to his feet by ten!
