NXT New Year’s Evil Results (1/4)

We are live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL, as announcers Wade Barrett and Vic Joseph welcome us to New Year’s Evil!

Title vs. Title Unification Match
NXT Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong vs. NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes

We go right to the ring and out first comes NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes with Trick Williams. The winner of this match will become the first-ever NXT North American Champion. This is a change as they previously said the winner would be the NXT North American Cruiserweight Champion. Out next comes The Diamond Mine – NXT Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong with Malcolm Bivens, Hachiman, Ivy Nile and The Creed Brothers. The champs meet in the middle of the ring and we get formal ring introductions from Alicia Taylor.

They lock up and they go around the ring until the referee forces a break.  Hayes with a clean break.  They lock up again and Hayes with a wrist lock.  Strong with a reversal.  Hayes with an arm darg and drop kick.  Hayes with a take down and Strong with a head scissors.  Strong with a head lock take down and Hayes with a head scissors.  Both men with arm drags.  Hayes and Strong each get near falls with a leg sweep.  Hayes kicks Strong.  Hayes with a chop and Strong misses some chops.  Hayes with a side head lock.  Strong chops Hayes a few times.  Strong goes to the floor after Hayes and Williams almost gets chopped.  Strong with more chops.  Strong with a knee when Hayes returns to the ring and connects with forearms.  Hayes flips over the back and Strong with a back elbow.

Hayes avoids a forearm and Hayes puts Strong in the ropes and connects with a kick to the back of the head and a springboard leg crop.  Hayes comes off the ropes but Strong catches him.  Hayes avoids a suplex.  They go back and forth and Hayes sends Strong to the apron and Hayes with a slingshot DDT on the apron.  Hayes goes up top and misses a boot.  Strong with a flying boot for a near fall.  Strong chops Hayes a few times.  Hayes and Strong exchange chops and Strong chokes Hayes in the ropes.  Strong kicks Hayes.  Strong with a forearm and kick to Hayes in the corner.  Strong with a suplex and he gets a near fall.  Strong with an arm bar and elbow to the head.

Strong with a chin lock but Hayes with a jaw breaker.  Hayes with a springboard clothesline and he gets a near fall.  Hayes with a reverse chin lock into a double wrist lock.  Hayes with a knee and Strong with a running clothesline.  Strong with a back breaker followed by a second one.  Strong with a third back breaker.  Hayes with a tilt-a-whirl face buster for a near fall.  Hayes with a crossface but Strong escapes.  Strong goes for the Strong Hold but Hayes blocks it.  Hayes with a Boston Crab on Strong.  Strong with a Liontamer on Hayes.  Hayes kicks Strong in the head to escape.  Strong with a uranage back breaker.  Strong gets a near fall.  

Strong and Hayes exchange punches from their knees.  Strong with forearms.  Strong with running forearms followed by an Olympic Slam for a near fall.  Strong tries to put Hayes on the turnbuckles but Hayes blocks it.  Hayes floats over and goes for a sunset flip and hits a suplex into a cutter for a near fall.  

Strong with an inside cradle for a near fall.  Hayes lands on his feet when Strong goes for End of Heartache and Hayes with a super kick.  Hayes goes to the turnbuckles and Strong with a kick. Strong with a super End of Heartache but Hayes gets a near fall.  Hayes goes up top and hits a leg drop to the back of the head for the three count.

Winner:  Carmelo Hayes

After the match, Trick joins Hayes in the ring as the music hits and the celebration begins. Hayes takes both title belts and raises them in the corner. We go to replays. Hayes sits up on Trick’s shoulders now as the celebration continues.

— We see Bron Breakker arriving at the building earlier today.

— We also see Tommaso Ciampa earlier today in the locker room. AJ Styles shows up and Ciampa tells AJ he looks like he is dressed for a fight.  AJ wishes Ciampa luck tonight.

We go to commercial.

— We are back and so is the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.  The men’s tournament starts in 2 weeks and the women’s tournament starts in February.

— AJ Styles makes his way to the ring.

AJ tells the crowd he appreciates the chants for him.  He says he has done a lot in his career and he will always enjoy that.  He says he has won a lot of championships too.  He thanks everyone for being amazing fans.  AJ says he would be lying if he didn’t say he had some regrets.  When he first started in WWE he wasn’t in NXT.  AJ mentions that his debut was in the Royal Rumble.  He was on Raw and Smackdown within months and he was at Wrestlemania.  There is something about this place.  There is something special about NXT.  He says it is the passion.  It is the passion that the fans have for the superstars and the passion the superstars have for the fans.

AJ says he doesn’t care which NXT it is, it is passion that makes NXT go round.  AJ says he’ll be damned if he lets someone take that passion from you.  AJ says he is talking about Grayson Waller.  There is always going to be one who thinks they are bigger and better than the place.  That is Grayson Waller.

Grayson Waller makes his way to the stage.

Waller says AJ really tugged at the heart strings and laid it on tight.  It is a phenomenal deflection.  You lost to Omos last night.  You didn’t lose, you got crushed.  This whole I wish I started in NXT thing, I don’t buy it.  Grayson then says what AJ will say about being green and not paying his dues.  Grayson says he is a student of the game and he knows why AJ lost.  Waller says the fans didn’t see it, but I did.  You lost because the whole time in the ring, you were thinking of Grayson Waller.  I am living in your head rent free.  I wish I was there but I didn’t want you to blame me for the loss.

AJ says that Waller is right.  AJ says he is hurt, beat up, and not at 100 percent.  AJ tells Waller to take advantage of the situation.  AJ says he never had a match in NXT and he has his gear on.  All we need is a ref and we can do this.

Waller says we are not on Phenomenal Time, we are on Waller Time.  

AJ tells Waller to grow a sack and get in the ring and do something.

Waller takes off his shirt and he gets in the ring but he says not tonight.  He says they can do it next week in the main event to give him the biggest victory of his career.

AJ says it will be the biggest embarrassment of his career.

Waller tries to punch AJ but he misses.  AJ punches Waller.  They go to the floor and then Waller kicks AJ when they return to the ring.  Waller with a punch but he misses a clothesline.  AJ with a Pele kick.  Waller sends AJ to the apron but AJ with a forearm and he sets for a Phenomenal Forearm but Waller gets out of the ring.

— We get a video package from Pete Dunne. Dunne says he treated you like everybody else and break your fingers and you think that is getting one over you.  This is the best you can do (as Pete shows his bandaged hand).  This is just the beginning and there aren’t four of ya, there is one of ya.  It is too late to consider.  I will rip your arm out of the socket and stuff it in your mouth.  Next week, come face me and finish what you started.  Bring the crowbar because you will need it.

— We go back to the ring and out comes Imperium – the returning WALTER and NXT Tag Team Champions Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner. Fans chant for WALTER as Imperium poses in the ring and we go back to commercial.

— We are back and Amari Miller shows up to talk to Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro.  Kacy says they are getting ready to become NXT Tag team champs. Persia Pirotta and Indi Hartwell says their dreams will come up short. Persia challenges them to a match and Indi asks about doing a handicap match.  Persia offers Tiffany to be their partner and she refuses and tells her dad that these women are icky.  We see Wendy Choo behind her and Kayden, Kacy, and Amari tell them that she can be their partner. Indi asks her who she is and Wendy Choo introduces herself.

Imperium vs. MSK and Riddle

Carter and Barthel start things off and Barthel with an arm drag into a hammer lock.  Carter with a head lock and Barthel bridges to escape and holds on to the hammer lock.  Barthel with an arm bar and reverse chin lock.  Carter with a snap mare and Barthel with a wrist lock.  Carter with a wrist lock take down.  Carter kicks Barthel and hits a drop kick.  Barthel with a side head lock and Aichner tags in and gives Carter an arm drag into an wrist lock.  Aichner sends Carter into the turnbuckles shoulder first.  Carter with chops and Carter with a rana and Lee tags in.  Lee with punches followed by a handstand head scissors take down.  Lee goes for a moonsault but Aichner catches him.  Lee with a kick to the midsection.  

Aichner with a clothesline.after blocking a kick.  Lee has a kick blocked and Lee lands on his feet when AIchner flips him.  Riddle tags in and so does WALTER.  Riddle with a forearm and punches.  Riddle with kicks and WALTER blocks a kick and chops Riddle.  WALTER with a forearm to the back and Aichner tags in.  Aichner with a slam and elbow drop for a near fall.  Aichner with a reverse chin lock.  Riddle lands on his feet on a belly-to-back suplex attempt.  Lee and Carter tag in and they hit a series of double team moves.  Carter with a double stomp to the back.  Carter drop kicks Barthel over the top rope to the floor.  WALTER with a shoulder to Lee and he kicks Riddle off the apron.  WALTER kicks Carter.  WALTER catches Lee and puts him on the turnbuckles and connects with a forearm.  Barthel and Aichner with a double drop kick and Imperium poses in the ring.

WALTER kicks Carter in the back and stretches him.  WALTER with a kick to the hamstring and Aichner tags in.  Aichner with an elbow drop to the leg and he works on the ankle.  Aichner with an STF.  Aichner kicks Carter in the head.  AIchner with forearms and Barthel tags in.  Barthel with an Irish whip and European uppercut followed by a kick and butterfly suplex.  Barhtel with a corkscrew back elbow off the turnbuckles for a near fall.  Barthel with a cobra clutch.  Barthel with a back elbow.

Carter with a drop kick and both men are down.  WALTER tags in and he kicks Carter in the back to stop the tag.  WALTER with another boot to the back and head.  Carter with chops and forearms.  WALTER with a kick and then Barthel and Aichner pull Lee and Riddle off the apron to prevent the tag.  WALTER with a kick and seated splash for a near fall.  WALTER goes for a power bomb and Carter with a rana to counter.  Riddle tags in and he punches and kicks WALTER.  Riddle with a Pele kick and running forearm into the corner.  Riddle goes for an exploder but WALTER with elbows.  Riddle hits the exploder.  Riddle with a kick but he misses a moonsault.  Riddle hits the back senton.  Riddle kicks Aichner and Barthel and sets for a double IEDDT.  WALTER with a sleeper but Riddle blocks it.

Riddle lands on his feet on a suplex.  Riddle with a running kick to WALTER from the apron.  Lee and Carter with stereo suicide dives while Riddle hits an Asai moonsault.  Riddle with a German suplex for a near fall.    Riddle turns around and punches the mat to set up an RKO but Aichner and Barthel send Lee and Carter over the announce table.  WALTER with a drop kick to Riddle followed by a power bomb for a near fall.    WALTER yells at Barthel and Aichner and Barthel tags in.  AIchner tags in and Barthel with a kick to Riddle on the turnbuckles.  Barthel tosses Riddle to Aichner for a suplex and he gets a near fall that is broken up by Carter. 

Barthel sends Carter to the floor.  They set for the Imperium Bomb but Riddle with a back body drop to Aichner and Barthel jumps into a kick.  Riddle with a Geman suplex to WALTER.  Lee and Carter hit the Doomsday blockbuster and Riddle with a senton and RKO for the three count.

Winners:  Riddle & MSK

— McKenzie Mitchell is with Joe Gacy and Harland in the back. She asks Joe about what happened last week.  Gacy says that Harland has been working through things and dealing with how people have treated him in the past.  He has shown improvement over the last few weeks.  If they were part of the Dusty Classic, it would be good for him.  They don’t want hand outs as a new team.  They would be happen to prove to the tournament committee that they are a viable tag team.

— We see a helicopter arriving ad we see that Mandy Rose is in it.  She says that is how a champion arrives in style.

We go to commercial.

— We are back and Elektra Lopez is with McKenzie Mitchell and she asks Elektra about her and Xyon Quinn.  Lopez says you can keep asking about them.  She says she joined Legado because Santos knew she is a difference maker.  She is all about success.  Next week, we will get an answer when Santos faces Xyon and Elektra says she will leave with the winner.

Mandy Rose vs. Raquel Gonzalez vs. Cora Jade for the NXT Women’s Championship

Raquel kicks Cora as the bell rings and then she Irish whips Mandy and sends her into the turnbuckles.  Raquel drops Cora on the top rope.  Mandy with a jumping knee to send Raquel to the floor.  Mandy with an Irsih whip to Cora and Cora with a head scissors take down.  Raquel with an Irish whip to Cora and Cora goes for a head lock take down but Raquel counters.  Cora with a rollup for a near fall.  Cora drops down and Raquel goes over the top rope to the floor.  Mandy trips Jade and pulls her to the floor.  Mandy with shoudlers to Jade against the apron.  Raquel with a forearm to Mandy.  Cora with a somersault senton to Raquel off the apron.

Mandy sends Cora into the ring steps.  Mandy sends Cora back into the ring and Raquel pulls Cora to the floor.  Mandy kicks Raquel and then Mandy sends Cora back into the ring.  Rauquel pulls Cora to the apron to stop a cover.  Mandy sends Raquel into the ring steps.  Cora with an inside cradle to Mandy and Raquel breaks up the cover.  Raquel puts Cora on the turnbuckles and Raquel with forearms.  Mandy with a knee to Raquel and then Raquel runs Mandy into Cora and gets back of them on her shoulders for a double Samoan drop.  Raquel tries to keep Cora in the ring but Cora rolls to the floor and so does Mandy.  Raquel tries to bring Mandy back into the ring but Mandy hits Raquel with a kendo stick.

She hits Raquel more times with the kendo stick.  Mandy chokes Raquel with the kendo stick.  Raquel tries to choke Mandy with the kendo stick in the corner.  Cora with a rollup for a near fall on Raquel.  Cora grabs the kendo stick and Raquel has some words for Cora and Cora has some words for Raquel.  Mandy hits Cora from behind and sends Raquel to the floor.  Mandy gets a near fall on Cora.  Mandy with a forearm to knock Raquel off the apron.  Mandy gets the kendo stick back and jams it into Cora’s throat.  Mandy gets a near fall.  Mandy with a body scissors.  Mandy with forearms to Cora’s chest while holding on to the body scissors.  Mandy wtih a rollup for a near fall.
