Lio Rush’s AEW contract is set to expire next month and Peter Avalon’s deal has already expired so they will be free agents.
PWInsider is reporting on three prominent names that have contracts coming up in the next few months.
Marko Stunt, who hasn’t been seen in a few months, is one of the wrestlers who has his deal expiring soon. Stunt recently teased a “resurrection” this weekend, which has led to rumors that he will appear at The WRLD on GCW’s pay-per-view tomorrow night in New York City.
Another name who has his deal coming up is Joey Janela. If he does not sign a new contract then he will be finished with the company before Double Or Nothing in May.
Brian Cage, who hasn’t wrestled since October, also has a deal coming up. Cage’s wife Melissa Santos ruffled some feathers on Twitter a few months ago when she expressed unhappiness about Cage not being used much by AEW.
On his Instagram account, Cage posted a cryptic message that may have centered around his absence in AEW. “I’m looking for the answer,” Cage wrote. “#whobetta #needthemachine #swolverine #mrgmsi #whereyoubeen.”
It’s still possible for AEW to come to terms on new deals for the names listed above but one has to assume that there will be many departures this year, especially with AEW’s roster being so stacked.
