Former WWE Announcer Signs With Impact Wrestling

WWE Replacing Tom Phillips From RAW Announce Team

Impact Wrestling has its newest announcer following the departure of Matt Striker as former WWE commentator Tom Phillips (real name Tom Hannifan) has joined the promotion where he will be the new play-by-play announcer.

Impact let go of Striker earlier this week, which was reportedly in the works for months. Renee Paquette shared the news today in a post on her Twitter account when she wrote:

Hannifan started working for WWE in 2012 as a backstage interviewer. He had also done announcing work on Raw, Smackdown, NXT, NXT UK, Main Event, and even Superstars when it was still a show.

Hannifan was the lead play-by-play announcer for Raw from January 2020 until April 2021 where he replaced Vic Joseph in the role. He was let go by the company alongside several other people in May 2021.
