Omos Flew Home Before RAW, Match Changed During Commercial

As noted earlier, the ripple effects of COVID-19 have caused WWE to make changes to their shows.

One of the matches advertised for tonight’s RAW, AJ Styles vs. Omos did not take place and there was no sign of Omos on the show. Instead, there was a segment with WWE NXT star Grayson Waller, who talked about what Omos would do to Styles.

Moments later, a challenge was issued to Styles by Commander Azeez and the match was officially announced by the commentators.

However, after the commercial break, it was Apollo Crews vs. Styles with Azeez at ringside. During the commercial break, it was explained to the fans in the arena that Crews wanted to give Azeez the night off.

After the match, there was a clunky exchange when Azeez got in the ring to attack Styles but Styles took him out with a Phenomenal Forearm. To make things weirder, Styles came across as a total babyface, even though he’s in a feud with Omos, who is being pushed as a babyface.

PWInsider reports that Omos was not backstage during RAW but he was in Detroit earlier today and multiple sources confirmed that he flew home before the live broadcast.

Omos wrestled Styles last night in Madison Square Garden. At this point, it’s unclear why he flew home. The company has been dealing with some positive COVID-19 positive tests and some names were sent home for precautionary reasons. At this point, we don’t know if Omos leaving has to do with the COVID-19 situation or a completely different reason.

It’s unclear how much of these changes are due to COVID or other factors but it’s worth noting that things are different backstage this week as several top executives, including Kevin Dunn and Vince McMahon were not backstage at RAW.
