Rumor Killer On TNT Rule About AEW Women’s Matches

It appears a rumor killer has emerged on speculation that TNT & WarnerMedia created a rule regarding the number of women’s matches per AEW show.

AEW has received a lot of criticism about the company’s women’s division, and how much screen-time their female athletes receive in comparison to the men’s locker-room.

There has been a rumor circulating for a little over a year that the TNT Network only wanted one women’s match per episode. As per Fightful Select (subscription required), sources within AEW and TNT have indicated that no such decree was ever made or enforced.

The report noted that a request for more or less women’s matches on shows was never outlined or passed along to others within AEW. Sources from WarnerMedia stated that the network is more focused on good content, and reportedly enjoys when a show has a good social rating and a television ratings story.

AEW has featured their women’s division more prominently in recent months, Britt Baker vs Ruby Soho notably headlined the historic AEW Dynamite Grand Slam event. Fans often point out that the promotion still has a way to go with their approach to showcasing the division.
