There’s a reason why Kofi Kingston and Mustafa Ali have been absent from WWE programming recently.
Both men have announced the births of their daughters; Ali tweeted the news about Dua on November 24, while Kingston similarly posted about the arrival of Lotus Selene Sarkodie-Mensah on November 26.
In an update, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that both Kingston and Ali are on paternity leave, which they were granted ahead of time. Ali reportedly asked for a few weeks, and WWE approved this request. Ross Sapp notes that the paternity leave wasn’t a factor in the dropped plans for a storyline stemming from Ali’s “better America” promo, which he shared on social media; Ali put his request in before the storyline had been pitched. The report also notes that Ali received an extended leave after he wasn’t needed for the 25-man battle royal at WWE Survivor Series on November 21.
Kingston has been out of action since The Bloodline attacked him on the November 5 episode of WWE SmackDown. WWE subsequently issued a “medical update” and revealed that Kingston suffered an MCL Sprain.
