Mickie James Wins Knockouts Championship At Bound For Glory

In the semi-main event of tonight’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view, Mickie James defeated Deonna Purrazzo to win the Impact Knockouts Title.

The match started when Mickie attacked Deonna during the ring introductions and before the bell rung so it was few minutes before the match was officially started.

Around 1o minutes into the match, Mickie hit her jumping DDT but Deonna kicked out and Mickie began to lose her momentum. Deonna then locked in an armbar submission but Mickie got her foot under the rope. Deonna hit the Queens Gambit (cradle piledriver) but Mickie kicked out of the pin attempt. Deonna got frustrated and brought a chair into the ring but the referee took it away from her. Mickie went for the Thesz press off the top but Deonna shoved the referee in the way and this allowed Deonna to grab a chair but Mickie caught her with a kick to the head. The ref got up for a slow count and Deonna kicked out.

Moments later, Mickie hit another kick and a tornado DDT to win the title.

This is James’ 4th reign as the Knockouts Champion. Purrazzo had held the title for 343 days.
