FTR won the AAA Tag Team Championship from the Lucha Brothers back on the October 16 episode of Dynamite.
The storyline was that Andrade El Idolo paid Pinnacle leader MJF for their services as a way to take the titles away from Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix. Thus, FTR dressed up as unknown luchadores.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the idea came from AEW President Tony Khan, who went to AAA with the idea, and they agreed to move forward with it.
It’s been previously reported the plan is for Vickie Guerrero to manage FTR in AAA instead of Tully Blanchard, who is their manager in AEW, at the upcoming AAA tapings on November 4th.
A big match in the works that could be made would be for Wheeler and Harwood to defend the titles in a three-way against the Lucha Brothers and Dragon Lee & Dralistico at the December 4 Regia show.
