Kevin Owens’ Segment Pulled From WWE SmackDown – Kevin Owens was scheduled for a segment with Happy Corbin on last night’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown.
This has led some to speculate that perhaps, WWE is punishing Owens for his recent social media activity that hints at him making to jump to AEW after his WWE contract expires in January. That is not the case…at least not according to WWE sources.
Ringside News reported today that the Owens-Corbin segment was cut out simply because of a time issue. There’s always the chance that there are other issues at play here but officially, company sources say that it was just a time issue. It’s the same explanation being given for the women’s tag team match being cut from the show. Zelina Vega was scheduled to team with Carmella against Toni Storm and Liv Morgan and they were all in their gear and ready to go out before they were told that there was no time for their match.
Owens’ situation will be interesting to follow in the next couple of months since there are people in the company who believe that he is leaving. Owens teased a jump to AEW this week when he tweeted the coordinates to Mount Rushmore and The Young Bucks played into the speculation with their Twitter bio update.
It was reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Owens’ WWE deal expires on January 31, 2022.
