Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Jake “The Snake” Roberts is dealing with undisclosed health issues. During a recent appearance, Roberts was in a wheelchair and he had an oxygen device in his nose that he would take out when posing for photos.
Roberts announced last year that he has been battling COPD and it has made it hard for him to breathe. COPD is a lung disease that obstructs airflow from the lungs.
Roberts said last year, “What I got is worse than COVID. It’s something that was passed down to me through the bloodline. It’s not your happy camper stuff. It’s issues with COPD.”
Roberts said that he doesn’t get enough oxygen into his blood and he didn’t know how limited that would make him in the future. He also stated that he can’t talk for more than 20 seconds without an oxygen talk. This would explain why he hasn’t been appearing on AEW shows alongside Lance Archer.
