According to Dave Meltzer, a lot of fans that attended WWE RAW last night were not happy with the Alexa Bliss-Charlotte Flair segment.
Alexa Bliss had Charlotte Flair on as her guest to hype their match this Sunday at Extreme Rules pay-per-view. Flair tried to get the “old” Alexa Bliss back to fight her and the segment ended up with Flair attacking Bliss and ripping up one of her dolls. These segments are supposed to cater to a younger audience but, as Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio, it caused many fans to leave the arena.
“This one really backfired,” Meltzer said about the segment. “They had about 8,000 in the building, which is not bad, not good. I mean it’s fine. People were leaving in droves during this segment. I heard 1500 people left. It’s not like they left and went to the background and came back. They left and went home at 10 o’clock. People were going home at 10 o’clock which I had never heard of people going home in any numbers during a live Raw and this was a first and it was this segment.”
What will matter the most is how the segment did in the quarter hours. WWE had Roman Reigns kick off the show and then headline the show in a match against Big E and Bobby Lashley but if fans were turned off by the Bliss and Charlotte segment then it could hurt the overall average for the week.
Meltzer also noted that Bliss does very well with fan reactions at the house shows.
