Becky Lynch kicked off this week’s episode of SmackDown, saying that she missed the fans and when she dropped the Raw Women’s Championship, it was one of the hardest things that she had to do.
Lynch got some boos and she acknowledged that there was “controversy” over the way she won the SmackDown Women’s Championship and then she said that she is sorry for “absolutely nothing,” a line made famous by Conor McGregor. Lynch said that she was preparing for this.
At that point, the former champion Bianca Belair made her way to the ring to tell Lynch that she was definitely not okay with what happened at SummerSlam and that she wanted a rematch tonight. Carmella, Zelina Vega, and Liv Morgan all joined in on the segment to state their case on why they deserve a title shot.
Lynch declined to give Belair a rematch right now but a Fatal 4-way match was made to determine the number 1 contender.
Belair pinned Vega for the first elimination, Morgan pinned Carmella for the second elimination, and Belair pinned Morgan to win the match and become the #1 contender.
WWE has not announced when the Belair vs. Lynch rematch will happen, but the Nationwide Arena posted a video to hype next month’s Extreme pay-per-view and the main event listed is Becky Lynch defending the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair.
Stay tuned for more.
