WWE SmackDown Results (7/30) – Minneapolis, MN – We are live from the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN, as John Cena makes his way to the ring to start the show. After his entrance, we get a video package of last week, with Paul Heyman mocking Cena’s theme and Reigns turning down the challenge.
John comments on Roman’s missionary position comment and then he welcomes everyone to Smackdown. John mentions the contract signing and he is happy for Finn Balor but he says that Roman Reigns sucks. He says that Roman is a scared little kid. Roman accepts Finn’s challenge and Roman rejects John. John says he has no problem with rejection. It was his reasons. He talked about how he didn’t change his music, his look, or who he is. He says that is so stupid. That is like asking Steve Austin to come back to the WWE as Sasquatch Steve Houston. It would be like the Rock coming back to the WWE as Dwayne ‘Too Small’ Johnson. He talks about his possible new catchhprase.
He says they stand proud in this ring every night and they don’t beg you to acknowledge them. They allow you to boo and cheer. Roman expected him to change because that is what Roman has to do. John says Roman has to change every two years because you stop caring about him. You stop caring about him because you don’t believe in him. You don’t believe in Roman because he does not believe in himself. Roman is a lazy stooge named Joe who coasts by on every gimmick. John says he would have embarrassed Roman’s ass at SummerSlam. You rejected me not because how I look, but because of how I would make you look.
Baron Corbin comes out and he says they need to talk.
John says that the crowd is chanting ‘you suck’ but John says he doesn’t know who he is. Corbin gets on the apron and John realizes that it is Baron Corbin. He tells Corbin he looks horrible. Cena agrees with Corbin’s assessment about himself.
Corbin says he wants to talk to John and he says he is desperate. Baron says his life is falling apart. He lost his crown, his cars, he is going to lose his house. Someone stole his identity and his credit is trash. Baron mentions he sustained an injury to a sensitive part of his body. Baron says he is unable to… John says surf the internet, eat breakfast cereal. Baron says he cannot perform. Baron says his wife left and she took the kids. Baron says he saw the charitable John Cena who grants so many wishes. He asks if John can help him.
John says he loves himself some audience participation and he asks the crowd if they should help him. The crowd started a Yes chants.
John gives Baron some money and Baron says that John is rich. He says it doesn’t have to be money. He asks John to put him in his next movie or Suicide Squad. John says they finished filming Suicide Squad and it debuts on Friday. Baron says he will be John’s stunt double. Baron asks John if he is going to kick a poor man when he is down. Baron says that John is a selfish, self-absorbed, tight wad with an ego the size of California. He calls John a ‘Hollywood sell out’.
John suggests that we help this man. John says he will give Baron something. Something that he desperately needs… an attitude adjustment. Cena gets Corbin up for an Attitude Adjustment and hits it. Cena takes the money back and leaves.
Backstage:
Rey Mysterio is in the back and Dominik shows up and he tells Rey that he will keep his eye on Jey while Rey fights Jimmy. Rey tells Dominik he is proud of the competitor he has become. Rey says that Dominik needs to step up his game and not make rookie mistakes so they can win back the tag titles. He tells Dominik to watch him tonight.
— Rey and Dominik Mysterio make their way to the ring as we go to commercial.
Jimmy Uso vs. Rey Mysterio
They lock up and Jimmy with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. They lock up and Jimmy with a side head lock. Jimmy with a back heel kick. Rey with a head scissors and punches in the corner. Rey with a bulldog off the turnbuckles for a near fall. Jimmy gets Rey on his shoulders and he runs Rey into the turnbuckles and gets a near fall. Jimmy with a reverse chin lock and Rey with elbows and he sends Jimmy to the apron. Rey with a baseball slide to send Jimmy to the floor.
Rey goes for a sliding splash under the bottom rope but Jimmy moves. Rey rolls through and Jimmy with a super kick.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Rey kicks Jimmy but Jimmy with a sunset flip but Rey rolls through and kicks Jimmy because you don’t sunset flip Rey Mysterio. Jimmy sends Rey to the apron but Rey with a shoulder. Jimmy with a dragon whip to Rey. They go to the turnbuckles and Jimmy sets for a superplex but Rey blocks it. Rey sends Jimmy to the mat with a head butt. Rey with a seated splash and a springboard cross body for a near fall. Jimmy gets Rey up again but Rey gets to the ropes and he drop kicks Jimmy in the knee and Jimmy is stuck in the ropes. Rey goes for the 619 but Jey pulls Jimmy to the floor. Rey with a twisting pescado onto Jimmy and Jey.
Rey and Jimmy return to the ring and Rey with a head scissors that sends Jimmy into the ropes again. Rey with a 619 to Jey’s back. JImmy grabs the leg on a 619 but Rey with a crucifix and Dominik uses his feet to keep Jimmy down for the three count.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
— We take a look back at what happened last week when Bianca Belair defended the Smackdown Women’s TItle against Carmella. Bianca then makes her way to the ring and we go to another commercial break.
In the Arena:
We are back and Kayla Braxton is in the ring with Bianca Belair. Kayla brings up Bianca’s defense last week and she mentions that Bianca has been champion for more than 100 days. She mentions that it is now 110 days. Kayla asks what is going to happen in the next 100 days. Bianca says these past few months have been amazing. Winning an ESPY and winning the title at Wrestlemania. Now being in front of all of you. She says she doesn’t know how to top it…
Carmella comes out and she congratulates Bianca on 100 days. If you really want to cement your legacy, you should give one more title match to someone who has held the title for 130 days. That would be the person who is known as the most beautiful woman in WWE. Carmella says she knows that she deserves it. The lights last week were too bright.
Zelina Vega comes out and she tells Carmella to slow her roll. You are too pretty to be a third time loser. Bianca, I am going to say it to your face. Zelina says she thinks the WWE Universe wants to see you challenge a rising star like me. I am the moment and no one is more deserving than me. Accept my challenge, Bianca. Bianca says Zelina is on.
Carmella attacks Bianca from behind and Zelina joins in and she kicks Bianca. Carmella and Zelina continue to work over Bianca and Sasha Banks’ music plays and she kicks Carmella and Zelina. Sasha with a double knee strike to Carmella and a knee to Zelina.
Sasha picks up Bianca and hugs her. Sasha raises her hand.
— We take a look back at Nia Jax turning her back on Reginald. Back to commercial.
Backstage:
We are back and Reginald is ambushed by Kayla Braxton and he wants Kayla to call him Reggie. She asks him about the title. Reggie says he would do anything to get to the WWE, whether it is to help Carmella, Sasha or Nia. He is looking forward to his title match. He says he has to be ready for any opponent at any time. He is looking over his shoulder. He says he has a rear view mirror on his shopping cart. His head has always been on a swivel. It is only second nature. Whoever decides to challenge me should expect the unexpected.
Reginald vs. Chad Gable for the 24/7 Championship
Otis is out first but he says it’s not me, it’s him (Chad Gable). Otis with a body block to Reginald before the bell ring.
Gable with a back elbow and a Northern Lights suplex for a near fall. Gable with an Irish whip and Reginald floats over and flips out of the corner. Reginald with a matrix and a back heel kick. Gable sends Reginald face first to the mat. Gable with a Tiger suplex for a near fall. Reginald is put on the turnbuckles and he knocks Chad to the mat. Gable with a German superplex but Reginald lands on his feet. Reginald with a flip seated splash and Otis pulls Reginald off Gable and the referee calls for the bell.
Winner by DQ: Reginald
— Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce are in the office and she says the main event is official and everyone has been informed. It will be Carmella and Zelina Vega versus Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair.

In the Arena:
We are back and the table is in the ring with the chairs and pretty carpet. Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce are in the ring for a contract signing. Adam says they are here to make sure that this contract is signed, sealed, and delivered.
Finn Balor makes his way to the ring.
He is followed to the ring by Universal Champion Roman Reigns and the Roman Tabernacle Choir of Paul Heyman. Jimmy and Jey Uso are not with Roman and Paul.
Adam says they have had a chance to review the contract and he tell them they can sign it if they like what is in the contract.
Roman takes his mic while the crowd chants for Cena. Roman says we have already seen Mr. Missionary tonight. Roman asks Finn if he caught Cena’s opening promo. He says that by accepting Finn’s challenge, Cena says that Roman is ducking him. Roman says that John thinks that Finn is a lesser person than him. Roman says he doesn’t think this. He thinks Finn is worthy to challenge for the Universal Championship. I think you are worthy to take this beat down at SummerSlam. I don’t think you are like John using the same shtick. You are hungry. If you sign this contract, I am going to smash you and send you right back to NXT.
Roman signs the contract.
Finn says you think pretty highly of yourself and justifiably so. It will be my privilege to return to NXT as the Universal Champion. Finn starts to sign the contract but Baron Corbin attacks Balor and Corbin sends Balor to the floor and over the ringside barrier.
Baron Corbin has the contract and starts to sign it but Cena sends Corbin into the ring post. John takes the contract and he has a Sharpie so you can see his signature. And just like that, apparently Reigns vs. Cena is now official for SummerSlam.
Backstage:
We are back and Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville walk with the contract and they see Paul Heyman. Paul congratulates them on the job they did but Paul wants to know what is going to happen at SummerSlam. Paul mentions that Finn’s name is on the contract and John’s signature is on the contract. Adam says he sees the contracts and that is good enough for him. Sonya says the contract is ratified and Cena will face Roman for the title at SummerSlam.
Cesaro, Big E, and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, and Apollo Crews
Big E and Crews start things off and Big E with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Crews with a knee to Big E and Crews sends Big E to the floor. Roode with a spinebuster while Ziggler hits a Zig Zag on Big E on the floor as we go to commercial.
We are back and Cesar tags in and Cesaro wtih an uppercut to Ziggler and a boot to Crews to knock him off the apron. Cesaro with a clothesline to Ziggler for a near fall. Cesaro with the Giant Swing. Cesaro wtih a Sharpshooter but Roode pulls Ziggler to the apron. Nakamura tags in and hits a knee off the turnbuckles for a near fall. Ziggler with a Zig Zag when Nakamura goes for Kinshasa. Crews tags in and he hits a standing moonsault on Nakamura for a near fall. Roode with a spinebuster to Nakamura. Big E with a Big Ending to Roode. Ziggler with a Fameasser. Crews with a German suplex for a near fall on Nakamura.
Boogs plays his guitar to distract Crews and Azeez throws Boogs into the announce table. Cesaro with a European uppercut to Azeez. Ziggler with a super kick to Cesaro. Nakamura avoids Crews and hits Kinshasa for the three count.
Winners: Big E, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Cesaro
We take a look back at what happened with Edge and Seth Rollins last week.
— Edge makes his way to the ring as we go to commercial.
In the Arena:
Seth Rollins is standing in the ring and we see what happened during the commercial. Seth Rollins and the amazing Technicolor dream suit attacks Edge and sends him into the ringside barrier. Rollins with a boot to the head. Rollins hits Edge with a video camera.
Seth tells everyone to shut up and listen to him. Seth says that all Edge has done is take and take and take from him and he is sick of it. He says what goes around comes around and that is why it is called a revolution. Seth says he is a revolutionary.
We have a video package.
Seth says he is not ashamed of anything that he has done. He says he is proud of that. That was the hard thing to do. That was the right thing to do. He says he is the rightful heir to the Universal Championship. If I cannot be the Universal Champion, then neither can Edge.
We go to commercial.

— Next week, the two men who did not get to sign the contract will face off next week when Finn Balor faces Baron Corbin.
Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair vs. Carmella and Zelina Vega
Carmella and Bianca start things off and they lock up. Sasha tags in and they hit a double shoulder tackle. Sasha gets a near fall. Sasha goes for a slam but Carmella escapes and she pulls Sasha to the mat and gets a near fall. Sasha is sent into the turnbuckles and Carmella with elbows. Vega tags in and they go for a double suplex but Bianca makes the save for Sasha and they hit a double drop kick. Sasha with a baseball slide to Vega and Carmella. Bianca presses Sasha over her head and Bianca slams Sasha onto Vega and Carmella.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Vega sends Bianca to the mat. Vega with an octopus. Vega sends Belair to the mat and then into the turnbuckles. Carmella tags in and kicks Bianca. Carmella chokes BIanca. Bianca stops Carmella but Vega tags in and stops Belalr from making the tag. Vega returns to the octopus. Banks tags in and hits a double knee drop and drop kicks to Vega. Sasha with a suplex and she holds on and goes for the Three Amigos. Sasha goes up top and hits a frog splash for a near fall. Carmella with a kick to the head and she tags in. Sasha goes for the lungblower but Carmella drops down and kicks Sasha. Carmella gets a near fall. Belair sends Vega to the floor and Bianca follows.
Sasha with a lungblower into Banks Statement and Carmella taps out.
Winners: Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair
After the match, Banks and Belair stand tall and celebrate as the music hits. We go to replays. Banks and Belair continue dancing around the ring until Banks drops her out of nowhere with a Backstabber. Fans go wild. Banks grabs the title but drops it to mount Belair with right hands. Some fans in the crowd are shocked as the camera focuses on them. Banks shoves the title in Belair’s face and talks some trash, then goes back to beating on her in the corner. Banks drops Belair with a tornado DDT and applies the Bank Statement in the middle of the ring. Belair screams out as the referee tries to break the hold. Fans continue to boo Banks as Belair cries out. Banks stands tall to mostly boos, but a few cheers.
Banks raises the SmackDown Women’s Title in the air as the boos get louder now. We go to replays. Banks applies the submission again, yelling at Belair and rag-dolling her, ranting about how Belair is only here because of her. Belair is screaming out and tapping but Banks keeps the hold locked in. The boos continue and the referee tries to get Banks to break the hold as SmackDown goes off the air.
