NXT Results – July 13, 2021 – We begin with the graphic In Memory of Paul Orndorff.

— We take a look back at last week’s Great American Bash episode of NXT.

We are at the Capitol Wrestling Centre and your announcers are Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett, and Vic Joseph.

Dakota Kai (with Raquel Gonzalez) vs. Ember Moon

They lock up and go around the ring.  Ember with a take down into a top wrist lock.  Kai with a wrist lock.  Moon with a hammer lock into a side head lock.  Kai with a side head lock.  Kai with a shoulder tackle.  Moon lands on her feet on a hip toss and she takes Kai down with an arm drag and follows with another arm drag into an arm bar.  Kai with a take down and near fall.  Kai with an Irish whip that sends Moon sternum first into the turnbuckles.  Kai with a Yakuza kick for a near fall.  Kai with a forearm and an axe kick for a near fall.  Kai with a thrust kick and she gets a near fall.

Moon with a rollup for a near fall.  Kai with a kick to Moon and she gets a near fall.  Kai with a straitjacket choke.  Kai pulls Moon back to the mat.  Moon with an arm drag and then she blocks a kick and gets a near fall.  Kai rolls to the floor and Moon looks at Gonzalez before hitting a suicide dive on Kai.  Kai sends Moon into the apron and then Moon with a spinning kick on the apron.  Moon with a sliding kick to Kai from the apron.  Moon sends Kai back into the ring and she kicks Kai.  Moon puts Kai in the ropes and then Moon goes to the floor and kicks Kai to get a near fall.  Moon iwth an Irish whip and forearm into the corner.  Moon sends Kai to the apron and then Kai trips Moon.  

Moon kicks Kai away but Kai kicks Moon and then sends Moon’s ribs into the ring post.  Kai gets a near fall.  :Kai sends Moon into the turnbuckles and then chokes her.  Kai gets a near fall.  Kai with forearms to the back of the head.  Kai with a rear chin lock.  Moon with forearms and an arm drag followed by a rollup for a near fall.  Kai with a back breaker for a near fall.  Kai with Kawada kicks to Moon and she gets a near fall.  Kai pie faces Moon and then connects with a forearm.  Kai with a punch and suplex.  Moon kips up and hits a clothesline.  Moon with a back heel kick and an enzuigiri.  Moon with a bicycle kick and a neck breaker followed by a butterfly suplex.  Moon with a running back elbow into the corner.

Moon with a springboard cross body for a near fall.  Kai with a scorpion kick and she avoids Moon when Moon charges into the corner.  Kai pulls Moon to the mat and Kai with the Yakuza kick as she scores from second.  Kai with a reverse swinging DDT for a near fall.  Kai with a forearm and she goes to the turnbuckles.  Moon with a running drop kick and then Moon with a Frankensteiner for a near fall.   Moon walks across Kai and then goes to the apron.  Kai misses a kick and Moon with a forearm.  Kai with a forearm and she gets Moon on her shoulders for Go 2 Kick for the three count.

Winner:  Dakota Kai

After the match, Xia Li makes her way to the ring and she walks past Dakota Kai to Raquel Gonzalez.  Li challenges Gonzalez and she appears to accept the challenge.

— We go to Malcolm Bivens’ comments from earlier today about the Diamond Mine and he says they are about competition.  He says it is Open Challenge time.  Bobby Fish shows up and accepts the challenge.  Malcolm tells Bobby he faces Tyler Rust tonight. Roddy says after Tyler is done with Fish it is over.

We go to commercial.

— We are back with a video package for Ikemen Jiro.  He says don’t let his good looks fool you because he will kick your ass.  He says he was trained by Tajiri and Muta.  He says he is looking forward to the breakout tournament.

— We go to Cameron Grimes being the butler for LA Knight.  Knight is on the phone and he says Grimes is late.  Grimes arrives and Knight says Grimes is late.  Grimes says he showed up.  Before he had his money, he had his word and his word is bond.  Knight tells Grimes to go out back to look more professional.  Grimes gets his hair and beard worked on and Knight talks about the uniform. We see Grimes in his uniform and he likes his new look.  Knight calls Grimes a penguin and butler and it is time for him to do some work.  

Tyler Rust (with Roderick Strong, Malcolm Bivens, and Hideki Suzuki) vs. Bobby Fish

They lock up and Fish misses some kicks and Rust with a belly-to-back suplex.  Rust with a punch to the midsection and a wrist lock and take down.  Rust with a double wrist lock and he stomps on the arm.  Rust with a European uppercut and snap mare.  Fish with a kick and Rust with a figure four head scissors.  Rust with a kick to the midsection but Fish with a kick to the leg and forearms.  Fish with kicks to the chest.  Fish runs into a boot in the corner but Fish with a back body drop.  Fish with an exploder that sends Rust into the ropes.

Strong gets on the apron and Fish sees Rust get up and Fish with a running back elbow to send Rust to the floor.  The referee tells Strong to get off the apron and Rust with a clip and a round kick for the three count.

Winner:  Tyler Rust

After the match, Strong tells Fish that he bit off more than he could chew.  They surround  Fish and KUSHIDA makes his way to the ring and the Diamond Mine leaves the ring.

— Karrion Kross is seen warming up with Scarlett. Samoa Joe shows up in his referee gear, reminding Kross of a few basic rules for tonight’s main event. Joe asks Kross if he understands but Kross keeps punching the bag. Joe doesn’t like being ignored. He strikes the bag to get Kross’ attention, then asks Kross again if he understands. Kross says what he understands is that is Joe screws him in this match, Joe will be the one to get dealt with. Joe says he will take that as a yes. Joe walks off as Kross seethes. Back to commercial.

We go to commercial.

— We are back and we see The Way arrive at the building and Indi Hartwell is walking a few feet behind Johnny, Candice, and Austin.   Beth Phoenix stops Indi and she asks Indi Hartwell about Dexter.  She says Dexter didn’t do anything.  Beth tells Indi that some times you have to take a chance.

Gigi Dolin vs. Sarray

They shake hands and they lock up.  Sarray with a wrist lock.  Dolin with a reversal.  Sarray with a reversal of her own into a hammer lock.  Sarray with a side head lock.  Sarray with an arm drag take down and a side head lock take down.  Dolin with a head scissors and Sarray escapes.  

Mandy Rose appears on the stage while Sarray kicks Dolin and Dolin kicks back.  Dolin with a snap mare and kick.  Sarray with a forearm and rollup for a near fall.  Sarray with a Muta Lock but Sarray releases the hold.  Sarray with kicks and she tries for a fisherman’s buster but Dolin counters with a rollup for a near fall.  Dolin with another rollup for a near fall.  Dolin with an STO for a near fall.  Dolin with a forearm to Sarray and Sarray with a drop kick to Dolin against the ropes.  Sarray with another drop kick with Dolin against the ropes.  Sarray with a head and arm Saito Suplex for the three count.

Winner:  Sarray

— Santos Escobar says their world is in a constant state of flux.  Bronson Reed is a winner and he gets to live happliy ever after wtihout facing him one on one.  Isaiah Scott has the title now.  Joaquin Wilde says the Hit Row Cypher was horrible because Isaiah was off beat.  Raul Mendoza says they have no class. Escobar says that Dexter Lumis is a loser.  He is a loser in love and he will be a loser in the ring.

We go to commercial.

— We are back with Duke Hudson.  He says he is not perfect, but he is close.  He mentions that he is from Australia.  He says it starts with Ikemen Jiro.  He is high flying and has the weird jacket, but he will punch Jiro in the face.  You can call him Duke or the Breakout Champion.

Dexter Lumis vs. Santos Escobar

Escobar teases a punch and Lumis does not move.  Escobar with kicks and a back elbow but Lumis pops back up.  Lumis blocks a punch and Mendoza gets on the apron and the distraction allows Escobar to punch Lumis.  Lumis with a Thesz Press and punches and then he crawls across the ring.  Escobar is pulled under the ring as Legado Del Fantasma tries to find Lumis.  Escobar is pulled to safety by Mendoza and Wilde.  Lumis emerges from under the ring and Legado del Fantasma freaks out.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Escobar kicks Lumis.  Escobar with more kicks and he chops Lumis in the corner.  Escobar with an Irish whip and double knee strike in the corner.  Escboar puts Lumis on the turnbuckles and hits an enzuigiri and then follows with a Frankensteiner for a near fall.  Escobar with a drop kick to the head.  Escobar with a knee to the midsection and then he hits a clothesline in the corner.  Escobar with another clothesline into the corner followed by a suplex.  Escobar holds on and he rolls through for a second suplex.  Escobar rolls through and tries for a third suplex but Lumis blocks it.  Escobar lands on his feet and hits a lungblower.  Lumis with a clothesline.  

Lumis with punches to Escobar and a clothesline.  Lumis with a side slam and he goes for Silence but Wilde gets on the apron and Mendoza pulls Escboar to the floor.  Wilde pulls Lumis’ shoulder into the ring post and Escobar with the Phantom Driver for the three count.

Winner:  Santos Escobar

After the match, Hit Row stands on the stage to block Legado’s exit.

— Wade Barrett is with Kyle O’Reilly earlier today and Wade asks Kyle about last week’s match.  Kyle says losing is part of what they do.  He says he struggled to find out who he was.  He talked about selling his soul for Undisputed Era, but does he need it back.  It is how he got the job done.  Wade asks Kyle if he needs to change things to beat Adam Cole.  Kyle says he needs to get his groove back.  Kyle says it is about how you walk through the fire.  You cannot say and do the things that Adam did and get away with it. Kyle says he is the man who can and will finish Adam Cole.

We go to commercial.

— We return to LA Knight and Cameron Grimes and he tells Grimes to walk a few feet behind him and tells Grimes to call him Mr. Knight.  Knight tells Grimes he has to mow the lawn and Grimes is okay because of the giant lawnmower he sees.  Knight gives him a normal lawnmower.

— We take a look at footage from the commercial break when Indi Hartwell returned the favor but she cannot carry Dexter to the back and she drops him and she falls on top of Dexter.  Candice LeRae tells her ‘daughter’ not to spend time with Dexter.

Duke Hudson vs. Ikemen Jiro in a First Round Match – NXT Breakout Tournament

They lock up and Hudson with a waist lock take down.  Jiro with a waist lock and Hudson throws Jiro to the mat with a hip toss.  Jiro cartwheels around Hudson and he continues to avoid Hudson.  Jiro with a side head lock.  Hudson sends Jiro into the turnbuckles but Jiro with a headstand in the corner.  Hudson catches Jiro on a cross body attempt and Hudson gets Jiro on his shoulders and then kicks Jiro and hot shots Jiro followed by a running Polish Hammer.  Hudson with punches to Jiro in the corner.  Jiro with a chop.  Hudson with a slam and he kicks Jiro.

Jiro goes for a sunset flip but Hudson picks up Jiro and Jiro with palm strikes.  Hudson with an Irish whip and Jiro with a tarantula.  Hudson catches Jiro on a springboard move and Hudson with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex.  Hudson with punches to Jiro.  Hudson gets a near fall.  Hudson goes for Splash Mountain  and Jiro counters into a rana and he gets a near fall.  Jiro with a boot and a blockbuster but Hudson rolls to the floor.  Jiro with a drop kick through the ropes.  Jiro with an Asai Moonsault but Jiro appears to have hurt his ankle.  

They return to the ring and Jiro is sent to the apron.  Jiro with a slap and a head scissors take down followed by a kick.  Hudson with a Bossman Slam for the three count.

Winner:  Duke Hudson 

— Oney Lorcan and Pete Dunne are in the back with McKenzie and she asks who will win.  Pete Dunne says he does not care and he tells you to ask Johnny Gargano who the toughest man is.  Then you can ask Karrion Kross what it was like to be choked out by him.  Dunne says he is the baddest man and the best technician in NXT. 

Timothy Thatcher shows up and he asks if Pete is the best technician or the baddest man in NXT. Dunne wants to know who is asking and Tommaso Ciampa attacks Dunne and Lorcan. Security has to separate them (and we probably have a tag match next week).

We go to commercial.

— We are back with a look at how Zoey Stark and Io Shirai became the new NXT Women’s Tag Champs. Zoey says she is blessed to be a champion with Io Shirai.  

Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter vs. Aliyah and Jessi Kamea

Kacy and Kamea start things off and Kamea kicks Kacy to the mat.  Aliyah tags in and Kacy is Irish whipped into Aliyah’s boot.  Aliyah tosses Kacy across the ring by the hair and follows with a Northern Lights suplex for a near fall.  Kamea tags in and runs Kacy’s eyes across the ropes.  Kamea with an axe kick to the back and she gets a near fall.  Kacy is sent into the turnbuckles and Aliyah tags in.  Aliyah kicks Kacy and punches her.  Kamea tags in and he kicks Kacy in the midsection and gets a near fall.

Kacy gets a near fall with an inside cradle.  Aliyah makes the tag and she Irish whips Kacy but Kacy with a boot and Carter makes the tag and hits a bulldog followed by clotheslines.  Aliyah pulls Carter to the mat but she misses Kacy on the apron and Kacy is sent to the apron.  Carter with a rollup on Aliyah..  Kacy with a cross body off the apron onto Jessi.   Carter with a super kick to Aliyah and Kacy goes up top and hits a 450 splash while Carter hits a neck breaker for the three count.

Winners:  Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter

After the match, Stone checks on Aliyah but Aliyah pushes Stone.  She calls Stone a loser and she says she has done more to help him than anyone.  Aliyah punches Stone in the corner.  Aliyah kicks Stone many times.  

Jessi wonders what is the deal with Aliyah as Aliyah goes up the ramp. Franky Monet makes her way to the ring and she says hello to Jessi and says they need to talk. Stone tells Jessi to go with Franky.

— Samoa Joe goes into the Room of the Way and they are happy to see him. Joe explains Johnny of the rules for the match. Johnny says they are law abiding citizens and he will be the only one out there.  Austin offers Joe a Way shirt but Joe leaves the room.

Pete Dunne shows up and looks at Joe in his fancy striped shirt and Dunne walks away without saying anything.

We go to commercial.

— We are back and we have more of LA Knight and his manservant.  Knight wants to know why Grimes has a kid mowing his lawn.  Grimes says he knows how to delegate.  Knight tells Grimes to get up.  Knight tells Grimes when he tells him to do something, he does it.  Knight yells at the kid who Grimes hired to help him and then the kid kicks Knight in the leg and then Grimes knocks Knight into the pool.

— Adam Cole makes his way to the ring and he has something to say.

Cole says it feels good to say I told you so.  I told the world that I was better than Kyle O’Reilly.  At the Great American Bash, I proved it.  I proved that I am the greatest NXT Superstar in the history of this brand.  Kyle’s win at Stand and Deliver was a fluke and it didn’t count.  That is how unsanctioned matches work.  I was listening to your pathetic interview and how losing is part of what we do.  That is true if your name is Kyle O’Reilly.  You went through the fire but you got burned.  I would reconsider wanting that rematch because I will embarrass you again.

Cole saya he is sick of Kyle O’Reilly and he wants to talk about Samoa Joe.  The Samoa Joe who put me in the Clutch.  The Samoa Joe who did nothing while Kyle O’Reilly tried to rip my knee from its socket.  You are nothing more than an overpaid security guard in a suit.  You don’t scare me.  I could call you out but you wouldn’t come out.  No one in the back has the guts to come out and challenge me.

Bronson Reed’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring.

Bronson says you have to love the confidence.  You are a master of mind games and manipulating someone who has something to lose. I no longer have the North American Championship and I have nothing to lose.  All eyes are on me now.  People are wondering what my next move is.  People consider you NXT’s golden boy.  I consider you my golden opportunity.

Cole goes for a super kick and Reed blocks it.  Reed with a body block and Cole goes to the floor. Samoa Joe makes his way to the ring because he is going to be refereeing the main event. Joe looks at Cole and then walks past him and enters the ring.

We go to commercial.

— We are back and we see Robert Stone, Franky Monet, and Jessi Kamea.  Robert Stone is asked if Aliyah is still part of the brand.  Franky says you won’t have to worry about her any more. Mandy Rose shows up and she says it looks like the Brand is under new management.

— Next week Bobby Fish and KUSHIDA will face Tyler Rust and Roderick Strong.  Xia Li faces Raquel Gonzalez for the NXT Women’s Championship next week.

Karrion Kross vs. Johnny Gargano with Guest Referee Samoa Joe for the NXT Men’s Championship

Gargano with a forearm as Joe holds the belt over his head and then Kross sends Gargano into the corner.  Gargano with kicks.  Kross with kicks and an exploder to Gargano.  Kross kicks Gargano in the back and leg.  Kross with forearms and Joe warns Kross in the corner.  Kross with a suplex.  Kross with a waist lock and Gargano escapes.  Gargano with a drop kick to the back to send Kross to the apron.  Gargano with a second drop kick to send Kross to the floor.  Gargano with a back heel kick and then hits a cannonball off the apron.  Kross kicks Gargano on the floor.

Joe wants the action to return to the ring and Gargano with a forearm and Kross fires back.  Kross misses a shoulder tackle and goes into the ring steps.  Gargano with a punch.  Kross picks up Gargano by the jaw and then he drops Gargano across the edge of the announce table.  Kross returns to the ring while Joe checks on Gargano.  Gargano gets back ot his feet and he gets a near fall.  Kross with a forearm to the midsection.  Kross with a boot to the chest.  Kross chokes Gargano in the ropes.  Kross chokes Gargano in the corner.  Kross with an Irish whip and Gargano does the Michaels flip in the corner.  Kross with a snap mare and reverse chin lock.

Gargano with elbows and forearms.  Kross with a knee to the midsection.  Kross runs into a boot in the corner.  Gargano with a back elbow.  Kross misses a shoulder in the corner and Kross goes shoulder first into the ring post.  Gargano with a clothesline and a second one but Kross stays on his feet.  Gargano with a forearm but Kross goes for a slam.  Gargano with an enzuigiri and then Gargano is sent to the apron.  Gargano with a slingshot spear for a near fall.  Kross rolls to the floor and Gargano sets for a suicide dive and hits it and sends Kross into the plexiglass. 

Gargano sets for the slingshot DDT but Kross catches Gargano and hits a Northern Lights suplex followed by a standard suplex for a near fall.  Gargano holds on to teh ropes but Kross puts Garagno on the turnbuckles and connects with forearms to the back.  Kross sets for a belly-to-back superplex and Gargano counters with a lateral press.  Gargano with kicks to Kross but Kross with a clothesline.  Kross sets for the Oklahoma Stampede but Gargano counters with a satellite DDT for a near fall.  Gargano with punches but Kross with a forearm and choke slam.  Kross runs into a super kick and Gargano hits a second one.  Kross goes for the Kross Jacket but Gargano rolls through into the GargaNo Escape.
