MJF Drops Another Big CM Punk Tease After Chris Jericho Defeats Nick Gage

The Five Labours of Jericho continued tonight for Chris Jericho as he defeated Nick Gage in a No Rules Match on AEW Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen. Jericho passed part two of five as he looks to have a future match against MJF. For Gage, this was his AEW in-ring debut.

Cage started the match with a pizza cutter in his hand and he sliced Jericho’s bicep with it. Gage brought light tubes into the match but Jericho stopped him with a baseball bat but Gage countered with a backbreaker.

Gage then used a pizza cutter on the top of Jericho’s head. Through the picture in picture commercial break, Gage brought in chairs and a pane of glass into the ring, set up on two chairs but it was Jericho who hit put Gage through the glass with a hurricanrana off the top rope.

Jericho tried the codebreaker but Gage slammed him onto the glass before smashing light tubes over Jericho’s back. Gage then followed up by using a shank and then a broken light tube to stab Jericho in the forehead. Jericho sprayed mist to blind Gage before smashing light tubes over his head and hitting the Judas Effect to win the match.

After the match, MJF quickly got on the mic to let Jericho his next match won’t be any easier when he goes up against one of his old rivals — Juventud Guerrera. The two often met back in their WCW days. Juvi has also wrestled in WWE and AAA, but worked the indie circuit in recent years.

MJF also made a callback to Punk’s pipebomb promo when he started out by saying, “Chris, as you sit there in more pain than you’ve ever been in your entire life, I need you to listen to me.

Punk’s pipebomb promo from 2011 started out with the words, “John Cena, while you lay there hopefully as uncomfortable as you can possibly can be, I want you to listen to me.

As noted earlier, AEW announced that the August 20th episode of Rampage will take place at Chicago’s United Center. Shortly after, Darby Allin said in a backstage segment that he will be at that show and he dropped a “best in the world” reference, with the clear intention to tease a match with Punk.
