As noted, Rey Mysterio confronted Roman Reigns on SmackDown after the Universal Champion’s brutal attack on his son Dominik and challenged Reigns inside the Hell in a Cell structure at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on June 20th.
On this week’s Talking Smack, Paul Heyman accepted Mysterio’s challenge and WWE confirmed the title would be at stake on Father’s Day.
“I get this story, I want to see it go down,” Heyman said. “As special counsel to the Tribal Chief, the Universal Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns. I, Paul Heyman, hereby inform the public that I’m authorized to accept Rey Mysterio’s challenge against Roman Reigns inside Hell in a Cell. And that’s bad news for Rey Mysterio.
“Because you are not stepping into Hell in a Cell with just a defending champion. You’re stepping into Hell in a Cell against the monarch of the mat. The gracious God of the grappling game. The taste-maker of the island of relevancy. The savage Samoan sadist. The devil himself — inside Hell in a Cell. You’re stepping into the demonic structure with Roman Reigns.”

As announced on WWE Talking Smack, the leaders of two of WWE’s most iconic families will go to battle when Roman Reigns meets Rey Mysterio in a Universal Title Hell in a Cell Match.
The elder Mysterio confronted The Head of the Table on SmackDown after the Universal Champion’s brutal attack on his son Dominik. Father and son launched a Kendo stick attack that Reigns narrowly escaped.
The Mysterios have carried a target on their backs as SmackDown Tag Team Champions, but the father-son duo always head into battle shoulder to shoulder. On the other side, Reigns has seen the reemergence of Jimmy Uso draw a line between him and his “Right Hand Man” Jey Uso. Family ties may not matter though when the unforgiving steel structure of the Hell in a Cell closes around The Ultimate Underdog and The Head of the Table.
Will Rey show the Universal Champion what it truly means to lead his family? Or will Reigns force another opponent to acknowledge him?
