NXT Results – June 1, 2021 – Tonight’s NXT episode opens up with a video package showing how Karrion Kross retained the NXT Title over Finn Balor last week, and hyping up tonight’s Triple Threat to crown a new #1 contender. We’re live on the USA Network as Vic Joseph welcomes us to the Capitol Wrestling Center at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. He’s joined at ringside by Wade Barrett and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix as fans chant “NXT!” and cheer.

#1 Contender’s Triple Threat: Pete Dunne vs. Kyle O’Reilly vs. Johnny Gargano

We go right to the ring and Alicia Taylor begins the introductions as Pete Dunne makes his way out. He’s already getting booed heavily by the crowd. The winner of this match will challenge NXT Champion Karrion Kross at “Takeover: In Your House 2021” on Sunday, June 13. Out next comes The Way – Johnny Gargano with Austin Theory. Theory poses with Gargano and then heads to the back after wishing him good luck. Barrett says NXT General Manager William Regal has banned Theory and Oney Lorcan from ringside for this match. Kyle O’Reilly is out last.

Kyle goes after Gargano as the bell rings and then they exchange forearms but Dunne goes after Kyle.  Gargano is sent to floor and Dunne kicks Kyle.  Dunne works on the fingers and turns it into a double wrist lock but Kyle with a back body drop into a cross arm breaker.  Gargano breaks up the hold and Kyle with a heel hook on Gargano.  Dunne with a triangle on Kyle and Gargano sends Kyle to the floor.  Dunne goes for the leg and applies a side head lock.  Gargano with a head scissors to Dunne and then Dunne avoids an arm drag.  Dunne sets for a surfboard on Gargano.  Kyle with a kick to Dunne.  Kyle with a kick and then he works on Gargano’s arm.  Kyle with a hammer lock DDT and then he connects with knees to the ribs and elbows to the ribs.  Dunne with a hammer lock on Kyle.

Dunne with a double finger maniuplator and he stomps on both men’s right hands.  Dunne with forearms into the corner on Kyle and Gargano.  Kyle with a forearm to Dunne and Gargano with an uppercut to Dunne.  Kyle with a double dragon screw leg whip.  Kyle with an ankle lock on Dunne and Dunne with a reversal but Kyle sends Dunne to the floor.  Gargano with a forearm to Dunne on the floor.  Dunne blocks One Final Beat and he works on Gargano’s hand but Kyle with a dragon screw leg whip to Dunne.  Gargano gets a near fall on Kyle.

Dunne is sent to the floor by Gargano and then Johnny gets a near fall on Kyle. Gargano with a DDT and Dunne with a shoulder to Gargano and a clothesline. Dunne returns to Kyle’s hand to work on the fingers. Dunne with a forearm to knock Gargano off the apron. Dunne with a wrist lock take down into a head scissors. Dunne with elbows to Kyle’s head while in the head scissors. Dunne sends Gargano into the plexiglass and then he returns to Kyle but Kyle with forearms. Dunne with a forearm and Kyle falls to the mat. Dunne with a knee drop across Kyle’s chest. Dunne stands on Kyle’s hand. Dunne with knees to Kyle and then Gargano gets back on the apron. Gargano avoids Dunne and Kyle with a knee to the midsection. Kyle with kicks to Gargano and Dunne. Kyle with knees and a leg sweep to Gargano.

Kyle with a forearm to Dunne and he works on the arm. Kyle with a knee and rolling butterfly suplex combination on Dunne and then he sends Gargano onto Dunne with a butterfly gourdbuster and Kyle gets a near fall. Dunne and Kyle go to the floor and Kyle with a knee to escape a suplex. Kyle with a knee to Dunne off the apron but Gargano with a suicide dive on Kyle and then Dunne. Gargano with another suicide dive on Kyle. Gargano with a slingshot spear on Kyle for a near fall. Gargano chops Kyle in the corner. Gargano gets Kyle up for a lawn dart but Kyle escapes and goes for a back slide but Dunne kicks Kyle’s leg and they go down. Dunne kicks Kyle and drop kicks Gargano.

Dunne with a sit out power bomb on Kyle for a near fall. Dunne with an X-Plex on Gargano for a near fall. Dunne with a double wrist lock on Kyle and Dunne adds a body scissors on the Kimura. Gargano with a forearm to Dunne and Kyle catapults Dunne to the floor. Gargano with a rollup for a near fall. Gargano with a rollup but Kyle with a heel hook.Dunne with a kick and a knee drop to Gargano’s arm. Dunne goes for Bitter End but Gargano counters into a DDT. Gargano lawn darts Dunne into the corner and Dunne knocks Kyle off the apron. Gargano gets a near fall.

Gargano and Dunne exchange forearms.  Kyle kicks Dunne and Gargano.  Gargano with a rollup into a rolling kick and Dunne with a kick to the back of the hand.  Dunne with a double stomp to Gargano’s hands.  Gargano with an enzuigiri to Dunne.  Gargano with a super kick and Kyle with a wacky line on Dunne and Gargano.  Kyle blocks a slingshot spear and Kyle with a guillotine on Gargano but Dunne with a sleeper on Kyle.  Kyle lets Gargano free while Dunne adds more pressure.  Gargano sends Kyle to the floor and applies GargaNo Escape on Dunne.  Dunne snaps the fingers and then hits Bitter End but Kyle with a knee off the turnbuckles to break up the cover.

Dunne with an enzuigiri to Gargano from the apron.  Dunne and Kyle with clotheslines to each other on the floor and they go down. 

Adam Cole suddenly runs down with a steel chair, attacking Dunne and O’Reilly from behind as fans boo. Gargano approaches at the ropes but Cole throws the chair at him. A referee tries to stop Cole but Cole strikes him. Cole drops Dunne on the floor with a Brainbuster, catching a part of the chair it looks like. He decks O’Reilly and then enters the ring to level Gargano as the boos continue. NXT General Manager William Regal comes down with security, ordering Cole out of the ring. Cole leaves but superkicks O’Reilly on his way up the ramp.

We go to commercial with fans booing Cole as he tells Regal, “You need me!” This is Cole’s first appearance since losing the Unsanctioned Match to O’Reilly at “Takeover: Stand and Deliver” Night Two.

— We are back and apparently the match is over, I assume in a no contest… Adam Cole is told by William Regal it is time to go and Ember Moon walks to the ring. Cole leaves the building.

Ember Moon wants Raquel Gonzalez to get out here right now.  She says what Raquel did to Shotzi was not funny.  Ember threatens to hold the show hostage. Raquel Gonzalez makes her way to the ring and WIlliam Regal tries to stop her.  Ember with super kicks and a forearm to send Gonzalez to the floor.  

Security holds Gonzalez back and Regal has an angry look on his face. Dakota Kai attacks Ember from behind while Regal is dealing with Gonzalez.  Kai with Kawada kicks and a bicycle kick to send Ember to the floor. Dakota and Raquel have a nice laugh as they go to the back.

— We go to comments from ealier today when Santos Escobar says they are familia and they were with him when he won the Cruiserweight Championship.  He says he will be at ringside with Wilde and Mendoza.  Wilde says they will follow in Escobar’s footsteps and be leaders of leaders.  Escobar says they will do what they do best, and that is take what is theirs.

— LA Knight walks through the back and he makes his way to the ring. LA Knight says that the man who got the short stick is the man who beat Cameron Grimes a few weeks ago, Jake Atlas.  He will do the same thing he did to Cameron Grimes last week to Atlas tonight. Back to commercial.

— We are back and we see footage of Drake Maverick arriving at the building and then Ever Rise and Hit Row show up.  Scott asks Drake what is so funny.  Drake says that Scott called him a clown.  Killian Dain shows up and Scott tells them that they are going to end up on the hit list.

Jake Atlas vs. LA Knight

They lock up and Knight with an arm drag. Atlas with a rollup for a near fall. Knight with a kick and punch to Atlas. Atlas with an arm drag and a drop kick followed by a springboard hesitation arm drag for a near fall. Atlas gets another near fall. Atlas with an arm bar. Atlas with a knee drop to the arm followed by a chop. Atlas with an arm drag into an arm bar. Knight with a sunset flip but Atlas blocks it and gets a near fall. Atlas with a kick. Atlas with a knee and European uppercut. Knight with a punch and Atlas with a forearm. Knight with a hot shot and jumping neck breaker.

Ted DiBiase makes his way to the stage and then he walks to the ring and LA Knight sees his sugar daddy.

Atlas with punches but Knight with a forearm. Atlas with a rollup for a near fall. Knight with a power slam. Knight with a fist drop. Knight chokes Atlas in the ropes and then Knight kicks Atlas in the ribs. Knight goes for the groinal region with a kick. Knight with a knee and a slingshot shoulder tackle.

We go to commercial.

We are back and both men try for suplexes but they block the attempts.  Knight with a knee and he goes for a suplex but Atlas lands on his feet.  Knight lands on his feet and hits a neck breaker because someone has to take Zack Ryder’s move.  Atlas avoids a Million Dollar Dream and then Atlas with a cross body for a near fall.  Atlas with forearms and Knight sends Atlas over the top rope to the floor.  Atlas struggles to get back into the ring and beats the count.  Knight with a kick and eblow to the back of the neck.  Knight with punches.  Knight goes to the turnbuckles and he is met with a punch to the midsection.  Atlas with a jaw breaker.

Atlas with punches and a jumping knee and punches.  Atlas gets a near fall.

Cameron Grimes comes out to talk to DiBiase as if it was an episode of Shark Tank.  

Atlas with a rolling Death Valley Driver followed by a moonsault for a near fall.  Knight punches Atlas on the turnbuckles.  Atlas punches Knight and Knight leaps to the turnbuckels and then Atlas crotches Knight while Grimes distracts him.  Atlas with the Rainbow DDT for the three count.

Winner:  Jake Atlas

After the match, the music hits as Atlas celebrates. Grimes is all smiles as he enjoys Knight’s loss. DiBiase heads to the back and looks disappointed in Knight, who looks on from the ring and is not happy.

– The camera man shows us the Triple Threat competitors getting checked out in the trainer’s room. Oney Lorcan comes over and yells in the camera saying, all we need to know is if it wasn’t for Adam Cole, Pete Dunne would be the new #1 contender. Austin Theory runs over and disagrees, saying the same thing about Johnny Gargano. Lorcan and Theory start brawling until security breaks it up.

– McKenzie Mitchell is backstage with Ted DiBiase now, asking him who is worthy of the Million Dollar Legacy after tonight. DiBiase says LA Knight dropped the ball tonight while Cameron Grimes proved that he has the brains to go with the brawn. DiBiase is looking for someone with both. Adam Cole comes walking by out of nowhere and it looks like he’s headed to the ring. We go to commercial.

— We are back and Adam Cole is in the ring.  He says two years ago he became NXT Champion.  Whether they want to admit it or not, you are looking at the real number one contender.  I have been gone for two months and for two months, I watched as everyone tried to live up to my legacy and surprise, they failed.  I just took out three of NXT’s top stars in one night.  Adam Cole wants the NXT Championship back.  This brings me to you, Karrion Kross.  People think you are a monster but I see right through you.  You are nothing more than an overrated musckle head who doesn’t belong in the ring with me.  Do you think it was a mistake I held the NXT CHampionship for 403 days?

Karrion Kross and Scarlett make their way to the ring.

Kross calls Cole ‘Little Man’ and he says he understands Cole’s reasons for getting involved in the title picture.  No matter what you do, it won’t change things in the grand scheme.  When I signed here, you no longer became special.  We can talk about it out here.  He wants Cole to tell a story and entertain him.

Cole tells Mr. Overrated he will.  He says that Kross is not Adam Cole and you never will be.  NXT did everything to make you special.  They gave you the music, the smoke machine, and the girl.  To make me feel special, they ring the bell.  You are not on my level and anyone who watches wrestling knows that.  You are just a guy who has his property.  

William Regal shows up and he says this will not work for Adam Cole. Kross tells Regal to shut up and he says he does not care what you think.  What I want at Takeover is all of them.  Give me O’Reilly, Gargano, Dunne, and this gas station attendant.

Cole leaves the ring and adjusts the announce table and he says he runs this place. Cole throws a water bottle at Kross and then he leaves through the crowd.

— Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae are in the back with McKenzie and Candice says that you don’t talk about Poppy or Karrion Kross.  Candice says that Poppy wants to be the next Bad Bunny.  Candice wants to know what Indi is listening to and she finds out Indi is listening to 80s power ballads.

— We are told that the Five Way Match is official for the NXT Championship.

— Wade Barrett says KUSHIDA’s open challenge has been accepted by Carmello Hayes, the former Christian Cassanova.  He says after tonight, he plans on making an impression on the world and why he calls himself the Generational Talent.  His skills make one in a million.  He will be the next Cruiserweight Champion. Back to commercial.

— Xia Li says she will never forget Mercedes Martinez trying to embarrass her and bring disgrace on her family at the Mae Young Classic.  Now she is a warrior.  At Takeover, I will hurt you.

— Indi’s phone is still playing music and Dexter Lumis picks it up and he walks away.

KUSHIDA vs. Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Crusierweight Championship

They lock up and Hayes with a rollup for a near fall.  They go to a Greco Roman Knuckle Lock and Hayes with the advantage.  Hayes with a sunset flip for a near fall.  Hayes with a side head lock and take down.  Hayes with a thrust kick and arm drag or two.  Hayes with a drop kick.  KUSHIDA with a punch and chop.  KUSHIDA with another chop in the corner.  Hayes with an Irish whip and he runs into a boot.  Hayes with a back heel kick for a near fall.  KUSHIDA with a side head lock and he takes Hayes to the mat.  KUSHIDA with a handspring back elbow.  KUSHIDA misses a Shotei and Hayes puts KUSHIDA in the ropes and connects with a knee to the back and a leg drop to KUSHIDA hanging in the ropes.

Hayes gets a near fall as we go to commercial.

We are back and KUSHIDA with a punch.  Hayes with a knee and he sends KUSHIDA into the turnbuckles.  We see footage from the commercial of Hayes getting a near fall.  Back to the live action, KUSHIDA sends Hayes to the apron and then knocks him off the apron with a handspring kick.  KUSHIDA with a knee off the apron to Hayes’ shoulder.  KUSHIDA sends Hayes back in and KUSHIDA misses a knee to the arm and Hayes with a super kick.

Hayes with a facebuster followed by a springboard clothesline.  Hayes gets a near fall.  KUSHIDA and Hayes with forearms and chops.  Hayes with chops and KUSHIDA with kicks.  KUSHIDA with a palm strike and he sets for a Shotie but misses.  Hayes with a La Mistica for a near fall.  KUSHIDA blocks a head scissors and KUSHIDA with a hip toss and cartwheel followed by a drop kick.  KUSHIDA with a kick.  KUSHIDA with a double wrist lock and Heyes escapes but Hayes is met with a punch as he comes off the ropes.  KUSHIDA with a kick to the arm and KUSHIDA with a Hoverboard Lock and Hayes taps out.

Winner:  KUSHIDA

After the match, KUSHIDA offers his hand to Hayes and they shake hands.

— MSK are in their locker room and Carter says Legado was talking about what they are going through to get the titles.  Lee says they are using underhanded methods to win.  No matter what they do, we are not leaving without their titles.

We go to commercial.

— We are back and Franky Monet reads comments about her in ring debut last week.

Zayda Ramier and Zoey Stark vs. Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae In a Non Title Match

Indi and Zayda start things off and Indi sends Zayda to the mat and drops an elbow to the back.  Indi with a slam and Candice tags in and hits a neck snap for a near fall.  Indi tags in and Zayda with a kick but Indi kicks Zayda and sends her to the apron.  Indi with a boot to the head and Candice tags in and gets a near fall.  Candice works on the neck.  Candice with a sleeper.  Zayda with a rollup for a near fall.  Candice with a forearm and Indi tags in and she kicks Zayda and keeps Zoey from making the tag.  Indi with an elbow drop to the back.

Zayda with a drop kick and Candice tags in and she stops Zayda from making the tag and Stark is knocked off the apron.  Zayda with forearms and a kick.  Stark tags in and connects with clotheslines and a thrust kick to Indi.  Stark with a jumping round kick for a near fall.  Zayda tags in and Stark sends Zayda onto Candice with a slam for a near fall.  Indi sends Stark to the floor and Candice wtih an elbow to Zayda.  Indi tags in and Candice with a Wicked Stepsister followed by Pretty Savage for the three count.

Winners:  Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae

— Mercedes Martinez says Tian Sha wants to make her a marked woman.  You say you are different since the Mae Young Classic, but so am I.  You are in my way to get the title and I will run through you at Takeover.

— We run through the card for Takeover.  It will be LA Knight versus Cameron Grimes.  We will have a Fatal Five Way Match for the NXT Men’s Title.

— We see MSK and Legado Del Fantasma in the back as we go to commercial.

— We are back with a video package for the Diamond Mine.  

— Ember Moon is with McKenzie Mitchell and she is asked how she feels about what happened.  Ember says she is livid but cannot understand how Raquel uses her lackey to do her dirty work when she is so dominant.  Ember says she will take care of Dakota next week and then she will take the title from Raquel at Takeover and become a two time champion.

— Next week, Ember Moon faces Dakota Kai.  We will also see Poppy.  

MLK vs. Legado Del Fantasma for the NXT Tag Team Titles

Lee and Wilde start things off.  They lock up and Lee with a waist lock and take down.  WIlde with an arm drag.  Lee with a leg sweep and a near fall.  Lee with a side head lock.  Wilde pulls Lee down by the hair.  Lee with a kick to WIlde but Carter misses a bronco buster.  Wilde kicks Lee and then he sends Carter into the turnbuckles.  Mendoza tags in and they kick Carter.  Mendoza with a chop and a boot to the head.  Wilde tags in and they hit a dobuel back elbow.  Mendoza drops WIlde onto Carter to get a near fall.  Wilde with a boot to the head.  Wilde with a sliding cross body for a near fall.
