More WWE Releases And More NXT Call-Ups Coming Soon? – After the release of 16 Superstars since April, it looks like WWE is not finished trimming their bottom line. During the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast, Andrew Zarian confirmed that he was told that WWE is not finished releasing Superstars. At this point, it is unknown how many will be cut and when the company will hand those releases down. More Superstars are destined to lose their jobs at this rate.

“I do know that they want to cut back on these contracts and there are more releases. There will be more. I don’t know when, but I was told, ‘yeah this isn’t the final cut.’ So, we’ll see.”

It was reported earlier this week that there is a push among some in WWE who think Aleister Black should be brought back. Zarian reported on Mat Men that there are a lot of people within WWE who believe the company never really intends on fully releasing some wrestlers, and that some of the cuts are just a contract move so that they can re-negotiate the deals.

This way of doing business is not official, but it is heavily speculated on within WWE, and people are said to be very unhappy with the possibility of that happening, due to the fact that WWE could terminate contracts in the middle of a wrestler’s deal, in order to re-negotiate, just to give that talent less money. It was noted that this isn’t something WWE does often, and this isn’t the first we’ve heard of the practice, but if true it would be a new method of doing business for the company.

It was also said that WWE management does want to cut back on contracts and because of that, more releases are coming. There is no word on exactly when the next round of cuts will be made, or who is being released, but it was noted that this last round on June 2 was not the final list of cuts.

The company sent higher-ups such as Bruce Prichard, Canyon Ceman and others to the WWE Performance Center to scout talent. With the release of main roster Superstars, more NXT call-ups could be on the way. Vince McMahon has something he is looking for when it comes to calling up a Superstar to Raw or Smackdown.

According to RSN, Vince McMahon is “not looking for wrestlers.” He is looking for a different type of quality in a Superstar. The source said that McMahon is “looking for personalities.” He will ask who they have, and “if the character is very real, or if the character is outlandish, doesn’t matter.” Vince McMahon always asks: “What’s the character?”

We’ll have to see who Vince McMahon decides to call up from NXT next. He won’t make that decision based on just wrestling ability. He is looking for personalities and characters to freshen up the main roster. That could explain the call-ups he has pulled the trigger on so far like Rick Boogs. We will have to wait and see who else gets called up to the main roster next.
