As you are well aware of, WWE released Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Ruby Riott, and Santana Garrett this Wednesday.
Dave Meltzer mentioned on today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that for the first time, WWE had John Laurinaitis, who is the Head of Talent Relations, send out a text message to all of the current talent that is still under contract with the company about Wednesday’s talent cuts.
“You know what else is interesting, usually when they cut people they cut people, but they sent out a memo, actually a text message, to all of the talent informing them of these cuts. Yeah, there was a mass text sent out to all the talent from John Laurinaitis informing everyone of the six people cut. As fair as I know, that’s never been done before.”
Meltzer was unsure as to why WWE would do this considering WWE announces the releases of talent on their website so talent that still has a job could just find out that way.
WWE’s claim is that the releases were for budget reasons. It’s the same thing that is usually said to all released talent.
Here is what was said in the text message:
“Due to Budget cuts the following talent were released today. Braun Strowman, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Santana Garrett, Ruby Riott, and Aleister Black. – John Laurinaitis”
