Drax The Destroyer Character Will Continue Without Batista

Batista Quits Drax Role, Feels Marvel Could Have Done More To Explore The Destroyer's Emotional Side

Drax The Destroyer Character Will Continue Without Batista – Batista already stated that the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie will be his final outing as Drax the Destroyer. That is a sad day, but Drax will likely live on within the MCU, but Big Dave Bautista won’t be playing him.

Jim Starlin created the Drax character in 1973 for Marvel Comics. He recently spoke to Inverse about Marvel Studios replacing Dave Bautista in the Drax character. He understands not wanting to take your shirt off at 54-years-old, something Bautista has spoken about in the past.

This is a situation where Disney has figured out that they can make a ton of money off the Drax and an actor change isn’t going to stop them from cashing in. They are doing with with or without the former WWE Champion as well.

“I can understand hitting 54 and not wanting to take your shirt off anymore. The Marvel Universe is going to keep trucking along and they found that they have made money on cosmic stuff. So they will more than likely are going to do more of it. There may be another Drax down the line; somebody else who hopefully has half the comedic timing of Bautista.”

Bautista also stated in a previous interview that the character will likely carry on. Disney could very well have plans for Drax, but Batista is not going to a be a part of that. It might be odd to see someone else in the Drax role, but tons of fans will still throw money at Disney to see what Drax does with a new actor in the role.
