NXT Referee Drake Wuertz recently made headlines for his “radical views” about COVID-19. Wuertz was reportedly suspended earlier this year and was not allowed into the Capitol Wrestling Center at the WWE Performance Center for a period of time.
Tuesday night, he attended a school board meeting for the Seminole County Public Schools. This is where he argued that despite the world still dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, the board shouldn’t require kids to wear masks while in school because he feels the dangers of wearing the masks outweighs the dangers of the virus.
He also claimed the Superintendent has allowed children to be “victims of a tyrannical overreach.” It should be noted that the FDA recently approved Pfizer and BioNTech’s vaccines to be given to children (ages 12 to 15) on an emergency use basis.
He also took the stance of kids not needing to wear masks to protect teachers because kids should be put first. He brought up how wearing masks in school assists predators. Another highlight was him noting the requirement of children being masked, it disrespects the wishes of the parents.
It’s unclear if he asked for time off or wasn’t needed for this week’s NXT TV event. Either way, he wasn’t there. You can watch the entire video below (his appearance can be found around the 2:06:00).
