More On WWE Possibly Returning To Saudi Arabia

WWE Reportedly Returning To Saudi Arabia

WWE has not held an event in Saudi Arabia in over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, that could change.

WWE held its Super ShowDown pay-per-view event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the Mohammed Abdou Arena last February. It was reported last month by WrestleVotes that holding a show in the country this year is on the table for the company.

The company is expected to start touring again with fans at shows starting in July.

Dave Meltzer was talking about the boxing fight between Tyson Fury (who was backstage at WrestleMania Backlash) and Anthony Joshua on August 14th in Saudi Arabia. He said the country having this big boxing event means WWE is likely to return to Saudi Arabia later this year.

“The big thing with them is that their date looks like it’s August 14th and it’s in Saudi Arabia. So, if Saudi Arabia is willing to bring them in, then that means they are gonna bring WWE in before the end of the year. That’s not been said, but the only reason they haven’t been in Saudi Arabia is because of the pandemic.”

WWE has a 10-year partnership with the Saudi General Sports Authority and the company is paid big money to host two events in the country per year. Typically, WWE holds a show in October or November so that could be a timeframe as to when it will happen.
