— Sonya Deville walks in the back and she lets Charlotte Flair into the building. They both smiles as we go to commercial.

In the Arena:

Back from the break and SmackDown official Sonya Deville is in the ring with a mic. She introduces Charlotte Flair and out she comes. The announcers talk about how Flair was “suspended indefinitely” and fined $100,000 for attacking referee Eddie Orengo last week.

Orengo is also in the ring already. Deville introduces him and says he was the referee for the match that unfortunately ended in a bad way last week. We get a video package of replays and fans boo. Deville talks about Flair being suspended indefinitely and the fine. She says Adam Pearce’s decision was a bit rushed, and she doesn’t think Flair got a chance to give her side of the story. Deville tells Flair to give it now.

Flair thanks Deville and admits the error of her ways. She apologizes to WWE management and the WWE Universe, but most importantly Orengo, for her childish ways. Flair says she doesn’t understand what happened, instinct just took over but she’s here tonight to take the high road, admit her wrongs. She addresses Orengo and apologizes for putting hands on him, then apologizes for man-handling him last week. Eddie apologizes and says he didn’t see RAW Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley interfere, and if he did Flair would’ve won.

Deville says Flair has already paid her fine, and she’s happy to announce that the suspension has been lifted. Fans boo louder. Deville announces that Flair will also return to action tonight, and Orengo will be the referee of the match. Flair interrupts and points to how Eddie just admitted that last week was his mistake. Flair ends up demanding an apology from Orengo, and he does but he’s not thrilled. Flair and Deville exit the ring together as Flair’s music hits. They smirk while strutting up the ramp. Orengo looks concerned in the ring.

Flair and Deville stop backstage at Pearce in the Gorilla Position. Pearce is upset and asks what the hell was that just now. Deville says it was a last minute thing, she tried to find him. She apologizes. Pearce says he might accept that apology if she actually believed it. Pearce storms off as Flair and Deville look on.

— Sheamus makes his way to the ring for his Open Challenge as we go to commercial.

Backstage:

We are back and Adam Pearce is on the phone and Braun Strowman storms in.  Braun says he would love to have the match against Drew McIntyre, but he wants to bring up the Triple Threat Match and he says that he did not lose that match so he is in contention for that championship opportunity.  After I beat your Braveheart boy, make the WWE Championship match a Triple Threat Match at the pay per view, or do you need to talk to Sonya. Adam accepts Braun’s request.

In the Arena:

We take a look at what Sheamus did to Humberto Carrillo last week.

Sheamus gets a good chuckle out of that.  Sheamus says he could watch that over and over again.  He says he would be a fighting champion.  Last week, Humberto Carrillo added his name to the list of people who tried to take his United States Championship.  People would say that you didn’t let the bell ring.  He says Humberto doesn’t belong in the ring with the United States Champion.  I am a fierce fighter but I am a generous fella.  After the successful debut of his Open Challenge, he will do it again. If you fancy getting stretchered out at the Thunderdome and the guest at your own funeral, come on out and take a swing at ole Sheamy.  This will not be on the line.

Humberto Carrillo’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring.

Sheamus wants to know if Humberto is serious about this.  He asks Humberto if he is loco.  He will not fight Humberto again. Sheamus with a punch and kicks to Carrillo out of nowhere.  Sheamus with more kicks to Carrillo.

All bark and no bite… Carrillo leaps onto Sheamus’ back and he puts Sheamus’ wool coat over Sheamus’ head and then he punches Sheamus.  Carrillo sends Sheamus over the top rope and then hits two drop kicks and then a suicide dive that sends Sheamus over the announce table.

Humberto walks to the back while Sheamus attacks innocent chairs at the announce table.

In the Arena:

WWE Champion Bobby Lashley makes his way to the ring with MVP.

Bobby says he did what he said he was going to do at Wrestlemania.  He walked in and walked out as the WWE Champion.  When I grabbed Drew McIntyre and I made him pass out and I held the title over my head and I demanded respect.  I got that respect and it felt great because Drew was under my feet like a dollar crumpled up and thrown on the sidewalk.

Drew is like a piece of bubble gum under my shoe that I cannot get rid of.  I have to face Drew AGAIN at Backlash and I will beat him AGAIN.  There is a possibility that this could be a triple threat match.

Porter says he is offended by that.  How could the most dominant champion in the WWE be treated that way.  Bobby is the Chief Hurt Officer and any business involving that championship cannot be done without consulting the chief.

Bobby says anything done without our consultation is disrespectful.

Porter says that Bobby has been champion for 56 days but his title could be in jeopardy in a Triple Threat Match he wasn’t consulted about.  Bobby lost the US title in a triple threat match without being pinned.  It is possible that Bobby could lose his title and not have a hand in the outcome.  That is not fair.

Bobby says fair or not, he can beat Drew or Braun in a head to head competition.  If their match is changed to a Triple Threat Match, I will have to come out to watch that match.  After waiting for 16 years, I will leave Backlash as the WWE Champion.

— We take a look at Riddle beating Randy Orton last week.

Backstage:

Riddle is circling Kevin Patrick and he says he feels like he is not on cloud nine, but cloud twelve.  Riddle says he does not understand what an Apex Predator is, but he squashed the viper like a mongoose.

Randy Orton stops by and he says he doesn’t know what planet Riddle is from and he says they have nothing in common.  He says he underestimated Riddle and he thought he would teach him a lesson.  Riddle earned a little respect.  He mentions what Riddle said last week about RK-Bro and he asks if they want to try it out.  They have a tag match if they want. Riddle is up for that but he wants to get matching snake skin Speedos.  Randy tells Riddle to zip the lip and he says to wait to see what happens before they talk.

We go to commercial.

— We are back with a look at Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke getting into the heads of Nia Jax.

Backstage:

Shayna walks away and Nia is given flowers.  Nia asks Reggie if he got them for her and he says he didn’t.  Angel Garza stops by to say they are from him. Nia walks past Mandy and Dana and she hits Mandy with the flowers.

Backstage:

Braun Strowman is in the back and he is stretching but MVP walks by.  Braun wants MVP to talk. Porter asks if that is how you talk to the representative of the WWE Champion.  Porter says Lashley knows that Strowman is trying to get into the title match. Braun tells Porter if Lashley has anything to say to say it to his face.  Braun says after he beats Drew tonight, there isn’t a damn thing that can stop them from keeping him from walking out of Backlash as the new champion.

She says she wants you to think of something peaceful.  Take a deep breath.  Inhale.  Exhale.  Think about how peaceful it is . . .

Lily shows up on screen and Alexa laughs.  Alexa asks if they got you.  Alexa says that was Lily’s idea.
