Status of Damian Priest Was “Touch And Go” For WrestleMania 37

WWE went through with their original plans for Bad Bunny to team up with Damian Priest against The Miz and John Morrison in a tag team match at WrestleMania 37 – Night 1.

However, WWE previously just announced a singles match between Bunny and Miz at the show. At the time, the belief was that the reason for this was due to Morrison dealing with an injury.

It turns out that the reason WWE waited so late to change the match was due to Priest dealing with an injury. Dave Meltzer noted on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio episode that it was a touch and go situation with Priest’ status heading into Mania because he was dealing with a bad back. There’s no word yet as to exactly how last minute it was.

“Priest has a bad back so that’s perhaps some of it. I guess the idea why they were talking about a singles match was because of Priest’s injury. I thought it was Morrison’s injury, but I guess it’s Priest’s injury. He was just cleared. I was told last minute, I don’t know if last minute means last week, but I was told it was touch and go. That’s what I was told today is that it was touch and go thing. So he was hurting.”

After an impressive showing by the rapper, Priest and Bunny went over in the contest.
