One of the big issues with the WWE roster is the number of wrestlers who are hovering around 40 years (or older). The issue is that the older wrestlers are being given more TV time, while fans aren’t seeing younger talent pushed in prominent storylines. It’s necessary to push younger talent to prepare the company for when the aging talent retires.
Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE is very aware of the aging aspect of their main and developmental roster and a doctrine has been laid out that states that they want to limit developmental signings to people under the age of 30. There will be some exceptions made for someone who is really good or has potential.
The news comes after WWE recently signed Taya Valkyrie and LA Knight (Eli Drake). Both of them are in their late 30s.
