WWE Made to Wait for Fury and McGregor

WWE Made to Wait for Fury and McGregor

Disruptions to the sporting schedules in 2020 were frustrating for a number of reasons and they may just have delayed some notable entries into the world of pro wrestling. Boxer Tyson Fury and MMA specialist Conor McGregor have been on the fringes of WWE for a few years now but they are currently focusing their attentions on their main roles.

The mouth watering prospect of seeing both men involved with WWE on a permanent basis remains but they have other battles to fight in the meantime.

Settling a Score

It seemed impossible for Tyson Fury to leave boxing without an all-British heavyweight showdown against Anthony Joshua. News filtered through on Monday March 15th that a contract had been agreed in principle by the two men and, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed, it seems that Fury v Joshua is finally on.

Boxing fans and, even those who follow WWE will be watching this fight with interest. It promises to be a thrilling and potentially tight affair but the best betting sites linked to sbo.net are making Tyson Fury an odds on favourite. Anthony Joshua is rated as a 6/4 outsider while some will look to stake on the draw.

Those that are interested in betting on the bout can continue to follow sbo.net who will monitor and update the markets when the fight date is confirmed. News updates on Fury vs Joshua will also be located on this site and, when readers are set to make their move, there will be a selection of bookmakers’ offers and promotions.

Next Move

Just days before the announcement of the contract to take on Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury revealed that he had been part of some very big plans involving WWE. Speaking in an interview with Behind the Gloves, the man known as the Gypsy King said that he was aiming to be part of Wrestlemania 36 and Summer Slam 2020, together with a Pay Per View event in the UK.

That revelation will come as a big disappointment to fans of pro wrestling but it does offer some hope for the future. For now, Tyson Fury must focus on Anthony Joshua but, if he wins, it’s conceivable that he may consider that he’s achieved everything he set out to do in the boxing ring. There will be more Wrestlemanias and Summer Slams and that’s the clearest indication yet that Fury will be a part of them.

Notorious Next?

While the world of WWE waits for Tyson Fury, there are alternative stories linking Conor McGregor with a switch from the octagon. As with Fury, these reports are not exactly new with the man known as ‘Notorious’ having teased a move into pro wrestling for some time.

The rumours have suddenly intensified thanks to Drew McIntyre who has said he expects to eventually see the Irish MMA fighter in WWE at some stage. McIntyre went on to say that he is more likely to face Tyson Fury first but he is confident that McGregor will be in his sights at some point in the future.

Conor McGregor hasn’t exactly been too polite about the current WWE roster and that’s reflected in McIntyre’s comments. The Scot said that he wouldn’t exactly welcome ‘Notorious’ with a hug but he did admit that it will be exciting to see McGregor in the pro wrestling ring.

Both Fury and McGregor will bring something to the table: For the promoters, it’s important that they will attract an additional audience from the UK and Ireland respectively and there will be no shortage of WWE fighters waiting to take them on.
