WWE Smackdown Results – February 5, 2021 – Tonight’s show begins with a graphic In Memory of Butch Reed, who passed away at 66. Then, we take a look at highlights from the Royal Rumble, with a video focusing on Edge and Bianca Belair.
We’re live from the ThunderDome at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, as WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring. Jey Uso and Paul Heyman are on his side.
Paul hands the mic to Roman and Roman takes a few seconds to let the crowd get their chants out of their systems.
Roman says he is not a fan of recapping, but if you didn’t see the Rumble, I beat Kevin Owens… like I said I would because I am a man of my word. Enough about the past, so let’s talk about the future. It appears that the future is Edge. If you win the Royal Rumble, you get a first class ticket to the main event of Wrestlemania and the last time he checked, who is the main event. Paul says it is Roman Reigns.
Roman says he has two issues. First, why are you going to visit Monday Night Raw or waste your Wednesday on NXT because you know to come to Smackdown to grovel at my feet and beg to be allowed on the Island of Relevancy. Second, why am I out here first? Where the hell is Edge? You made the mistake of disrespecting me all week long, being a gentleman, I will let that slide. Now you make me wait? You gonna make the head of the table wait?
Paul tells Roman that Edge is here and Paul demands Edge’s pyro. Paul is told something by the production assistant and Paul tells Roman and Roman is not in a good mood.
Roman says that Edge isn’t here. Roman says Edge must think he is a fool. Roman asks Paul if he is a fool and if he wants to play games. Why would that man play games with me? The last man to play games with me, his name was Kevin Owens. He is no longer here any more because I whooped his ass. He is history and you will never see him again. Edge, I am going to tell you this nicely. You need to understand this because this is your only chance. You’re going to give me your decision by the end of the night. Roman tells Edge, you are going to give me your decision by the end of the night. Reigns drops the mic and leaves.

In the Arena:
Back in the arena and Edge makes his way to the ring.
Edge says you can’t accomplish something you never dreamed of. While I was grinding through rehab, I was dreaming. Every road mile I logged, I was dreaming. I was dreaming of coming back home. I was dreaming of winning the Royal Rumble, of main eventing Wrestlemania. I was dreaming of taking back something I never lost, something that was mine. I came in at number one and I outlasted 29 of the best superstars in the world. Now, I find myself on the precipice of the main event at Wrestlemania.
That begs the question. Which champion do I choose. Do I choose Drew McIntyre? Do I choose Finn Balor? Do I choose Roman Reigns? I asked my family and I get one answer. I ask my friends, I get a different answer. I saw a guy on the way to the building and he gave me a different answer. But at the end of the day… Roman Reigns’ music plays and he makes his way to the ring with Jey Uso and Paul Heyman.
Edge smiles at Roman and he asks Roman if he had to bring back up. Edge says he is out here alone. Roman takes the mic from Paul and he tells Edge ‘man to man’, he gives him his word. Without my blessing, Paul will not make a move on you. Edge says he is running in the space in Roman’s head already and that is why Jey is out here. Roman tells Uso he’ll meet him at the bus and he’s got this. Jey leaves the ring and goes to the back.
Roman says Edge disrespected him so he disrespected his family. Acknowledge me. Acknowledge me as the main event of Wrestlemania. Acknowledge me as the champion of choice. Say my name. That is your cue so go.
Out of nowhere, Kevin Owens kicks Reigns and hits a stunner. A stone-faced Owens marches right out of the ring and straight up the ramp as the crowd pops, not stopping to look back. Edge simply places the mic on the mat, looks down at Reigns on the mat, and exits the ring as the post-Royal Rumble edition of SmackDown goes off the air.
