The Miz Wins The WWE Title – Moments after Drew McIntyre survived and won an Elimination Chamber match against Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, and Kofi Kingston, Bobby Lashley brutally attacked McIntyre.
Lashley, angered by the loss of his United States Title earlier in the evening, destroyed Drew slamming McIntyre into the announce table. Then they return to the ring and Lashley with a flatliner and the Hurt Lock.
As Lashley stands tall, The Miz’s music hits and he runs down with his Money In the Bank briefcase and a referee.
The Miz cashes in his Money In the Bank title shot. The referee checks on WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and he’s barely able to move but he pulls himself up. The bell rings and Miz charges with a kick. Miz then drops Drew with the DDT but Drew kicks out at 2. Miz can’t believe it. Miz nails the Skull Crushing Finale for the pin to win the title!
The Miz, who had claimed pre-pandemic that if he wasn’t WWE Champion by Wrestlemania 37, he would retire (he stated this when the show was going to be held in his Los Angeles) kicks off his second reign. Miz previously held the title for 160 days in 2010-2011.
