Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai Win Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai have won the first-ever WWE NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Tonight’s NXT “Takeover: Vengeance Day” opener saw Kai and Gonzalez defeat Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart in the finals.

Kai and Gonzalez are the winners of the Women’s Dusty Classic trophy, and they have earned a future title shot from WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.

González overpowered her opponents early on, but Blackheart rallied when Kai tagged in. Moon and Blackheart double-teamed Kai to take control of the match. Moon and Blackheart continued to isolate Kai and target her leg. Eventually, Kai managed to tag González, and she used her impressive strength to gain the upper hand.

Later, González slammed Blackheart against the barricade, and Moon was left to fend for herself. The numbers game was too much for her, but she gained some breathing room with a flurry of offense. She hit the Eclipse on González, but a distraction from Kai allowed González to kick out. Blackheart reentered the match with a rally of her own. She dove onto Kai outside the ring, but González kicked out after a series of maneuvers.

Both teams kept breaking up potential pinfalls. González threw Moon onto the ramp, and she then launched her off the stage. In the end, Kai and González pinned Blackheart for the win to earn a future shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
