WWE has announced that NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano is out of action.
Austin Theory took to Twitter last night and revealed that Gargano won’t be facing Kushida at Sunday’s NXT “Takeover: Vengeance Day” event. He then challenged Kushida to a match on tonight’s NXT go-home show.
“I just left Mr. TakeOver Johnny Gargano’s house, and I can’t hold this in anymore. Johnny’s out of TakeOver,” Theory informed via a video clip on Twitter. “He will not be there for Vengeance Day, and its all because of you, KUSHIDA.”
Theory went onto reveal that he will now face KUSHIDA on tonight’s episode of NXT.
“I’ve always got a smile on my face but its time to be serious. I’m not playing around. Tomorrow night on NXT, KUSHIDA, you will pay. Not in cash or credit, but you will pay in the form of an ass whooping from Austin Theory, and that is The Way.”
WWE has just confirmed Theory vs. Kushida for tonight’s show. They also noted that Gargano is out of action, but did not provide any further details.
They wrote, “With Gargano out of action, what will this mean for NXT Takeover and the future of the North American Championship?”
There’s no word yet on if a new match will be announced for Takeover, but we will keep you updated.
