Vince McMahon Says WWE is Working on Better Storylines

During today’s WWE investor conference call, Vince McMahon addressed the declining ratings.

McMahon said that they are not hanging their on ratings alone because people are watching WWE programming through other platforms.

He said, “We’re doing everything we can. Better writing and better execution”

This is not the first time that this has been said to it remains to be seen if real improvements are made to the show.

Everyone in WWE knows that better writing is not going to fix the issue in the company if everything is changed by Vince McMahon. However, there are some brights spots in the company. The storylines with Roman Reigns and Jey Uso and the story with Bayley and Sasha Banks have been generally well-received. In those storylines, the performers are being given a lot of creative input.

Other key notes from the call:

– As noted earlier, there will be a multi-part documentary on Vince McMahon on Netflix with Bill Simmons as Executive Producer.

– WWE is looking at options to expand the WWE Network. Earlier this year, Vince McMahon said they were close on a deal. Nick Khan says they are looking for licensing opportunities with the network and there is constant dialogue with domestic and global partners.

– WWE is partnering with Sony India to hold an event there in 201 with plans to develop Indian stars.

– In regards to the move away from the ThunderDome, CFO Kristina Salen says there will be “some kind of center for the foreseeable future” into 21 and there are a lot of places for WWE to go. WWE may not be able to stay in the ThunderDome after November because of the NBA’s plans to kick off their new season in December.

– Khan would not comment on the length of the NXT deal on USA but said that WWE Network subscriptions have held up without NXT. He put over the ratings from last night.

– There was no answer given on when fans might be back at shows.
