Dominik Mysterio Talks Possibly Using a Mask and Wrestling as Prince Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio was interviewed this week by Chris Van Vliet for his podcast and YouTube channel.

The second-generation star gives his memories of the ladder match between his father Rey and Eddie Guerrero, how his sister Aalyah and mom Angie are part of current storylines, a possible match with David Benoit and more.

Here are some highlights:

Dominik Mysterio was asked when he started training:

“I first started training in late 2017.  I started training here in San Diego with my dad and Konnan for about 4 or 5 months learning the basics. From there I moved to Tampa Bay and I did 3 months with Jay Lethal at Tampa Bay Pro Wrestling. Once I finished there I came back home for 3 months. I then went to Calgary to Storm Wrestling Academy with Lance Storm for 3 months.”

Dominik talked about having to explain his involvement in the Eddie Guerrero-Rey Mysterio WWE TV angle during his grade school days:

“I was in third grade at the time. I had to take my homework with me. I wasn’t in class half the time. My dad would have to come in and explain to the teacher what was going on and what I was needed for. When I was in school, I had to explain to kids who my dad was because kids would ask me if my dad was Eddie Guerrero or Rey Mysterio.”

Dominik was asked if there was talk of putting a mask on him:

“There is still talk about it. We would like to eventually get into the tradition of Lucha Libre which would be putting the mask on me and taking on the name but I think that’s all down the line in the future. But, now everyone knows my face and what I look like and the idea of the mask is to hide your identity. I think I could find a unique way to bring the mask into my character. My long goal would be Prince Mysterio since Rey in Spanish means king. So for my character, it would be Prince Mysterio.”
