AEW Dynamite Results - October 28, 2020

Stay tuned for tonight’s AEW Dynamite coverage beginning at 8pm ET.

This week’s show kicks off with the new signature open and then we shoot inside Daily’s Place.

We see Dasha is standing by with Wardlow and MJF. She asks Wardlow about his upcoming semifinal match in the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament.

Before he can answer, MJF cuts him off and says if Wardlow wins and becomes AEW Champion, it’s technically his because he has a contract with Wardlow. He says anything that’s his actually belongs to him. Wardlow sarcastically agrees with him.

In walks Sammy Guevara and MJF, like talking to a young child, asks how the little buddy is doing and brings up his jacket, asking if it fits. Sammy tells him to cut the crap and makes it clear he’s going to do what he can to make sure MJF doesn’t join the Inner Circle.

World Title Eliminator Semifinal
Wardlow vs. “Hangman” Adam Page

Page attacks Wardlow with a Shotgun Dropkick as soon as he climbed in the ring. Page hits a series of forearms but Wardlow shoves him away and then destroys him with a big right hand. Wardlow beats on Page in the corner. Wardlow goes for the F10 but Page blocks it only for Wardlow to toss him back into the corner and beat him down again.

Wardlow goes for a Splash but Page moves and then knocks Wardlow out to the apron. Page hits a Springboard Clothesline knocking Wardlow to the floor and then goes for a Slingshot Plancha but Wardlow catches him. Page escapes Wardlow and shoves him into the ring post. That pisses Wardlow off and he Spears Page through a barricade into the front row.

Wardlow rolls back into the ring and Page almost gets counted out but manages to roll back in right before 10. Wardlow hits a Powerslam for a nearfall and continues to punish him with right hands and stomps. Wardlow hits a Release Vertical Suplex followed by a Gutwrench Bomb for another nearfall.

Wardlow attempts to Chokeslam Page off the top rope but Page counters into a Hanging Armbar over the top rope. When Page releases the hold Wardlow knees him in the gut and then Suplexes him back in the ring. Wardlow goes up top and attempts a Swanton Bomb but Page rolls out of the way causing Wardlow to splat on the mat. Page hits a clothesline but as he goes for another one he eats one from Wardlow. Wardlow kicks Page and then goes for a Release German Suplex, but Page lands on his feet and clotheslines Wardlow over the top rope.

Page hits a Golden Moonsault off the top onto Wardlow on the floor. Page rolls Wardlow back in the ring and hits a Running Shooting Star Press but only gets a one count. Page goes for the Buckshot Lariat but Wardlow ducks and counters into a Shortarm Clothesline for a close nearfall.

Wardlow hits the F10 but Page manages to roll out of the ring to the floor to avoid the pin, which frustrates Wardlow. Wardlow drags Page back up to the apron and then to the top rope and goes for a Super F10, but Page elbows him and counters into a Super Fall Away Slam! Page connects with the Buckshot Lariat followed by a second one for the pin!

Winner: Page via pinfall (Buckshot Lariat)

Jon Moxley says that he has defended his title with everything he’s had this year to try and help cultivate the championship to make it the most prestigious title in the business. Moxley says he isn’t defending the World Title at Full Gear, he’s going to be weaponizing it. He says there is no room for “this” Eddie Kinston in AEW. He says AEW is for the best athletes in the world that do the work and put their asses on the line every week. Moxley says he will have to say the words “I quit” and it will be a painful realization when he does to him what he has done to everyone else in AEW. He says he crushes windpipes, crushes necks and crushes egos.

Eddie Kingston’s music hits and he makes his way out to the ring with the rest of his crew — The Butcher, The Blade, The Bunny, Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix. We head to commercial break as they settle into the ring.

We’re back from the break and Kingston is alone in the ring now with a microphone. He says our world champion, Moxley, is a coward and decided not to be here tonight. He tells the camera man not to enter his world and tells him to get out. He says he’s hoping Moxley is watching from home and says he’s gonna fight anyways. He brings up Lance Archer, shown sitting in the crowd with Jake Roberts, when talking about how he never technically lost at the Casino Battle Royale.

Eddie Kingston vs. Matt Sydal

Kingston immediately complains that fans in attendance are chanting for Sydal, demanding they stop. They chant louder. Kingston and Sydal lock up and Kingston swings him around. He over-powers Sydal and drags him to the mat after locking his arm up over his head.

The fans chant for Matt again, and Kingston gets pissed and locks up with a vengeance with Sydal again, backing him in a corner. He goes for a big chop but Sydal ducks it, turns the corner and blasts his bigger foe with a big shot. Kingston locks up and slaps a side head lock on Sydal. Sydal hits an arm drag followed by another before locking Kingston’s arm up on the mat.

As Kingston starts to fight back and take over, we head to a mid-match, picture-in-picture commercial break as the action continues between Kingston and Sydal.

After some back-and-forth action during the break, we return to see Kingston gaining an upper-hand over Sydal. Sydal starts fighting back after eating some big chops, blasting Kingston with a big drop kick that almost got a three count over Kingston.

Blade gives Kingston a pep talk and he hops to the top rope. Sydal cuts Kingston off on the top and hits a hurricanrana from the ring. He follows that up with his diving knee-drop off the top-rope for a super close near fall. Sydal hits a number of close near fall attempts before Kingston turns Sydal inside out with a spinning back-fist. He takes the straps down and locks Moxley’s own Bulldog Choke on Sydal. Sydal taps out. After the bell, Kingston refuses to break the hold for an extended period of time.

Winner via Submission: Eddie Kingston

Kingston keeps the hold on Sydal after the match and screams for “Moxley” to say “I Quit.” Finally Sydal says it and he releases the hold. “I’m sorry, Mox,” Kingston said.

Excalibur sits down with FTR and The Young Bucks for an interview. FTR are in a separate location, along with Tully Blanchard. Matt Jackson says his ankle is fine and that an injury isn’t going to keep him out of the match with FTR. Excalibur asks FTR why they would put a match that has been brewing for years in jeopardy. Cash says he doesn’t care about any dream matches, all they care about is being tag champions.

The Bucks mock Excalibur when he says that he has known them for years and Matt says that’s the only reason he has a job. Matt says that they aren’t proud of the way they’ve acted lately, he doesn’t regret it. He says that they have been suffering for months and they’ve been missing an edge and the minute “these pricks” started messing with their livelihood and started screwing with their friends something clicked with them. He says the old Young Bucks are back.

FTR get pissed when Excalibur starts to ask the Bucks another question and walks off the set. Nick Jackson says they have more to lose than just a title and they offer the stipulation for the match that if they don’t win then they can never challenge for those belts again. Matt says that they have succeeded because they have always bet on themselves.

Inner Circle Town Hall

Dasha and Tony Schiavone are hosting a “town hall” between the Inner Circle and MJF over whether MJF should join the group. Luchasaurus asks the first question and asks MJF how he can contribute the earning potential for Inner Circle. MJF shows a chart that would show the earnings pre MJF and post MJF that would go way up.

Dr. Britt Baker asks the next question, she says MJF has a terrible track record with friendships and asks Jericho how that makes him feel. Jericho says he isn’t a “dipshit” like Cody Rhodes and if he tried to turn on him they would knock MJF’s teeth down his throat. MJF says he just wants to help them make more money, he doesn’t want to turn on them.

Peter Avalon gets the next question and asks to join the group but they laugh at him. Eric Bischoff is next and quotes JFK while asking MJF what he can do for the Inner Circle. MJF responds by saying, “friendship.” Bischoff asks MJF what he thinks Inner Circle can do for him and MJF says he has one dent in his armor and that is that he may not be the best team player but he thinks once he joins the group he can learn to be. Bischoff says he worked with Jericho for many years and calls him a “prima dona” which sets Jericho off until Tony screams at him to shutup. Bischoff says that MJF possesses some of Jericho’s “prima dona” characteristics and asks what the guarantee is that they just don’t end up killing each other.

Jericho asks MJF why they should believe he wouldn’t stab them in the back which pisses MJF off. MJF says that he gave Jericho the best segment of his entire career and he asks Jericho what he hasn’t done in the business. Jericho says he has never beaten him and he’s going to give him a chance to do it at Full Gear. If MJF wins then he can join the group. MJF says he will do whatever it takes to win and he will do anything to win.

Ortiz finally gets pissed off and tells MJF to shut the hell up and says that all he does is run his mouth. Ortiz says MJF has no shot to get into the group and he challenges MJF to a tag team match pitting he and Sammy against MJF and Wardlow next week. He says that MJF won’t make it to Full Gear.

Taz says that Team Taz is about victories, championships and money and he thinks Will Hobbs is money. Taz says that he is big, fast and mean as hell and that fits into Team Taz. Taz says that the clock is ticking and he needs to make a decision soon. Cage asks if he is in or out.

Back from a break and we see Best Friends walking down the hallway when they approach Kip Sabian and Miro. In walks Penelope Ford with a gift. She says trick or treat. Best Friends say neither. Miro and Kip Sabian end up beating them down.

NWA Women’s Championship
Serena Deeb (c) vs. Leyla Hirsch

Hirsch made her AEW debut recently, she is a former amateur wrestling star that was trained by CZW. She’s extremely short, probably 5-foot-1 but has gigantic, muscular legs and is super strong. Deeb defeated Thunder Rosa to win the NWA Women’s Championship on NWA Power last night.

Hirsch mat wrestles Deeb and uses her power early to keep Deeb on the mat. Deeb manages to catch Hirsch with a series of armdrags and a nice cradle for a nearfall. Deeb takes Leyla down with a side headlock but Hirsch fights back to her feet and destroys Deeb with a Lariat.

World Title Eliminator Tournament Semifinals
Pentagon Jr. vs. Kenny Omega

The bell sounds and here we go. The fans start chanting for Kenny. He begins wrestling with a blue t-shirt on for some reason. The action gets going and after the two shove each other, Omega says hold on and slowly lifts his shirt up to reveal the AAA Mega Title that he beat Pentagon Jr. for.

Rey Fenix didn’t like that and jumped on the ring apron. Omega lays the title down in front of Pentagon. The two push and chop each other as the ref moves the belt away. Omega finally takes his shirt off to welcome a chop back from Pentagon. Pentagon obliges as the chop echo’s throughout the venue. Omega hits him back with another of his own. Now he asks Pentagon to do the same.

Pentagon takes his glove off and goes to throw it, but Omega catches it and smacks Pentagon with it. He demands for him to chop him but then kicks him before he can and starts firing away at him. As Pentagon Jr. starts to fight his way into the contest, we have J.R. lead us into a mid-match, picture-in-picture commercial break as the action in the bout continues on the floor outside the ring.

We’re back from the break and we see Pentagon Jr. enjoying the offensive momentum in his favor as Omega complains about his hair being pulled. Seconds later, with Pentagon out on the floor, Omega hits a crazy dive onto Pentagon through the ropes. Pentagon turns the tables and ends up getting a big top-rope splash to the floor on Omega just seconds later.

With both guys back in the ring, the action continues as Fenix shouts out words of encouragement from ringside to Pentagon. Pentagon Jr. hits Sling Blade from the middle rope for a close near fall. Omega ends up hitting the V-Trigger with great emphasis. He hoists Pentagon Jr. up but he fights free and blasts him with a back elbow. And another moments later. The two climb to the top-rope. Omega is looking for a superplex on the entrance ramp from the top-rope.

Pentagon ends up headbutting Omega off the top to the ramp. Pentagon flies off and lands a crazy Canadian Destroyer on Omega on the ramp. “This is awesome!” chants break out as we watch replays and the ref checks on Omega’s condition. Back in the ring, Pentagon hits the package piledriver. He covers him but Omega somehow kicks out at 2 and a half.

Omega back-elbows his way out of Pentagon’s grasp. He holds onto Pentagon on a move but Pentagon rolls through and kicks him in the back of the head.

Now both guys are slow to get back to their feet. From their knees, they touch foreheads and Pentagon hits the ropes but runs right into a big knee from Omega. Omega hoists Pentagon Jr. up and is looking for the One-Winged Angel. Pentagon fights out of it, however, and locks Omega in a tight submission. He yanks back on it and the announcers say he just snapped Omega’s arm. They speculate he won’t be able to hit his One Winged Angel with it now. Pentagon Jr. hoists Omega up but Omega reverses. He immediately grabs the arm Pentagon yanked on.

The two trade chops again and Omega hits the ropes only to sprint into a front kick from Pentagon. Omega is out on his feet as Pentagon goes to the top rope. He comes flying off right into the knee of Omega. Omega follows up with a One-Winged Angel. He covers Pentagon Jr. and gets the pin. He advances to the finals and will meet his former AEW Tag-Team Champion partner “Hangman” Adam Page at AEW FULL GEAR 2020. That does it for this week’s show.
