Sonya Deville lost the “No DQ, Loser Leaves WWE” match to Mandy Rose at tonight’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view and per the stipulation, she must leave.
The match was originally announced as a Hair vs. Hair match, but the stipulation was changed on this past Friday’s SmackDown on FOX. The “Loser Leaves WWE” stipulation was just added to the match this past week, just days after the incident at Deville’s home. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, the stipulation for the bout was changed because of the ongoing experience Sonya is having with the legal system. Her lawyer advised her not to shave her head while handling this situation in court.
“So the reason why they switched the stipulation from the Hair vs. Hair to the Loser Leaves Town was because her lawyer basically said that with this thing going on, it’s probably not a good idea to cut your hair and get your head shaved for court…so they did an impromptu Loser Leaves Town. Maybe because of the case she’s gonna take some time off. I know there’s other projects she was looking at doing. Obviously she’s gonna be back at some point.”
There has been some speculation on Deville actually taking time away from WWE due to the attempted kidnapping in her home last weekend, but there’s also speculation on Deville returning for a spot on RAW in the upcoming WWE Draft.
Sonya Deville took to Twitter after losing the match to Mandy Rose: “…. goodbye,” Deville wrote. Mandy Rose also took to Twitter tonight and taunted Deville for the loss.
“Bye bye Sonya [peace sign emoji]… maybe ya should have thought that one through more [woman shrugging emoji] #SummerSlam,” Rose tweeted.
There’s no word yet on what WWE has planned for Deville next, but we will keep you updated.
