Drew McIntyre is currently involved in a feud with Bobby Lashley that will see them battle with the title on the line at the upcoming Backlash pay-per-view event.
That was not the orginal plan. As noted, Jinder Mahal has been sidelined once again due to a knee injury. The former WWE Champion announced that he had surgery to fix issues with his knee.
This came shortly after he had returned to WWE television after being out of action for the majority of 2019 and earlier this year due to a knee injury.
Louis Dangoor of WrestleTalk.com reports that Raw Executive Director Paul Heyman had big plans for Mahal. Per the report, there were plans to have him feud with Drew McIntyre over the WWE Championship at some point in the future.
It was noted that this wasn’t slated to be a long term feud but rather Mahal to get a significant push at some stage and challenge for the title. Clearly, those plans will have to be put on hold. The two stars had been talking about wanting to feud with each other for quite some time now.
