Roman Reigns was supposed to become the new Universal Champion at WrestleMania but he backed out due to concerns over working during the coronavirus pandemic.
This made Vince McMahon furious and recently issued an edict that said Reigns was not to be mentioned on WWE TV right now. WWE also edited Roman Reigns out of a WrestleMania 31 replay during Monday’s RAW episode on the USA Network.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Vince McMahon’s mind changes about Roman Reigns every day. Reigns has appeared in various video packages and digital media, but he was also edited out of the company’s Maka-A-Wish video.
“We’re told the reaction by Vince McMahon regarding Reigns and how to handle the situation “changes daily based on which way the wind is blowing,” which is why one day they show him beating HHH on Smackdown, then they edited him off Raw, then they do a Make-a-Wish thing and have no clips of him, then they do an investment conference and Vince McMahon never says his name, and then they have a one hour special on him on FS 1.”
This is a very interesting situation. There is no way to tell how long Reigns will be out of action, but if he can’t take that kind of risk because his leukemia battles left him immunocompromised, he can be gone for months and that could really change things. Hopefully, a vaccine for COVID-19 can be discovered soon so The Big Dig can be 100% confident about returning to work.
