The plans around this year’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view have been a hot topic as many consider the event the second biggest show of the year for the company.
WWE originally had plans to hold the show in Boston, MA at the TD Garden but then Boston Mayor Marty Walsh stated that large-scale events like parades and festivals will not take place this summer. This is due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Earlier this week it was reported by WrestleVotes that WWE has looked at a few different ideas regarding this show including pushing it back until September, looking for a new location in Boston, and more.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Vince McMahon is determined to have a live crowd for this year’s SummerSlam.
While the event is scheduled for August, it was noted that if waiting until September is the only way to have the show in front of a live crowd then the “thought is he would make that move but it is not a move decided on and he hasn’t outright committed to it.”
Meltzer noted McMahon is the person who will make the call and pointed out how McMahon changes his mind constantly. He added that McMahon ”sees the pandemic as something inconvenient.”
The reason for that is due to it getting in the way of his vision of what the product is supposed to be in addition to his plans.
