A big change has been announced for the ongoing eight-man IMPACT Wrestling Number One Contenders Tournament.
The promotion announced via a “BREAKING” Twitter post that Ken Shamrock is out of his originally scheduled opening round tournament bout against Rhino on this week’s edition of IMPACT On AXS TV.
Replacing “The World’s Most Dangerous Man”, who is out of the tournament due to the attack with a steel chair that he suffered from Michael Elgin on last week’s show, will be Ace Austin.
In addition to the Ace Austin vs. Rhino first round match, Michael Elgin and Sami Callihan will also meet in the remaining opening round bout on this week’s edition of IMPACT Wrestling.
The Elgin/Callihan winner will move on to face Trey Miguel in the semifinals of the tournament, while the winner of Rhino/Austin match has Hernandez waiting for them in the semifinals on the other side of the bracket.
The man who emerges victorious in the finals of the IMPACT Wrestling Number One Contenders Tournament will go on to challenge the reigning title-holder, Tessa Blanchard, in a one-on-one match with the IMPACT Wrestling World’s Heavyweight Championship on-the-line.
