New trademark filings by Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows may provide a hint on their future in pro wrestling.
Anderson recently filed for the “Chad 2 Badd” trademark. The name was used in the Southpaw Regional Wrestling spoof on old school wrestling that aired on WWE’s social media channels a couple of years ago.
What is interesting is that Anderson has retained the services of Michael E. Dockins, the same attorney who handles trademarks for wrestlers in All Elite Wrestling.
Among others, Dockins has filed trademarks on behalf of wrestlers such as Cody Rhodes, Lance Archer, Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder) and The Revolt.
The applicant for the “Chad 2 Badd” filing is listed as MG Karl Anderson, LLC and it’s for the following:
“Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, providing podcasts …”
Dockins has also filed for the “Sex Ferguson” trademark on behalf of Luke Gallows. The applicant is listed as “Wrestlemerica, LLC,” the independent wrestling company owned by Gallows.
Dockins has also filed for “TalknShopamania.”
The “Chad 2 Badd” and “Sex Ferguson” characters were developed before WWE so they should not have an issue securing those trademarks.
