Former WWE star Darren Young did a recent interview with the VP Show where he made headlines with an interesting claim.
This is where he noted how WWE had plans to have the Nexus, a faction group that consisted of eight rookies from the first season of NXT, make their return at WrestleMania 36.
However, according to Young, those plans were nixed. One would think that if WWE actually had plans to do this, the reason for the nix was due to the show being moved from a stadium in Tampa to the empty Performance Center in Orlando, Florida due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
The group featured the likes of Young, Daniel Bryan, Heath Slater, Wade Barrett, Ryback, and others. It should be noted that there hasn’t been any reports of not only WWE not doing this angle but also having any interest in bringing back the likes of Ryback or Barrett, two of the top guys in the faction aside from Bryan.
Young stated, “If Nexus would’ve come back, who knows what would’ve happened. We were scheduled to come back for WrestleMania. Yeah, this year’s WrestleMania in Tampa.”
The Nexus made their debut on WWE television in June 2010.
Since this video has surfaced online, some fans are pointing back to a report by WrestleVotes earlier this month that noted how WWE officials had a big storyline that was supposed to play out over this spring and summer.
It was described as being as big as the Nexus invasion debut and Vince McMahon limousine explosion angles.
